  1. Hi. I forgot to mention that I used am image file already (.iso) with VirtualCloneDrive. This worked fine and all files were readable. However didn't consider this test as very reliable since other software drivers (VirtualCloneDrive) might have permitted proper display/reading of "burned" files. ... later ... After rebooting this morning, the files on subject DVD-DL became visible ?!?! I did multiple reboots after the problem occurred, but none helped to see the files. Now ... all of a sudden, it works. I didn't change anything on the system between posting the initial article and the reboot this morning). No clue what went wrong here, but now it works. Thanks for the answers!
  2. Are you sure it helps to add ISO9660? This would be a burn using UDF (1.02) + ISO9660. These DL-DVDs still cost money. I can't run test after test BTW ... I just noticed that Windows7 (ran from a virtual machine) recognizes the DVD-DL properly. Thanks!
  3. Hi. I burned a DVD-DL (double layer, 8.5 GB) with various files ranging from 1 KB to 2 GB. No folder structure, just plain burn of some files. I used UDF 1.02. The burn and verify inside ImgBurn 2.5.0.0 was successful. Afterwards, I realized in WinXP SP3 that all files show 0 Bytes. Ubuntu can read the files. What went wrong? Do I have to change the settings in ImgBurn? Does an upgrade of all Mircrosoft patches (from SP3 onwards) help? Thanks,
  4. Personally, no. But then I don't use Ricoh DL discs, I use Verbatim. So you think it's a media problem. Hmmm ... It can happen on any media the drive has problems with. Actually, I burned #100 DL DVDs with this particular media using Nero and never had problems. Yes, in the 'Settings' on the 'Write' tab under 'Write Type'. Do you think that this is the reason for subject issue? BTW ... is it possible to simulate a DL DVD burn (I don't want to spend 4.-
  5. In other words ... I can stop looking why this error occurs since I won't find it, right? Have you ever had such issue before? Is it related to DL DVDs or can this also happen with regular DVDs? Is it not possible to tell ImgBurn to use the incremental write type as well (instead od DAO)? I'd like to understand what went on here wince this "experiment" was costing me +10 DL DVDs. I would like to avoid this in the future. Thanks.
  6. I hate to say this, but Nero 6 managed to burn the DL DVD without any problem. What can Nero what ImgBurn can't? Can you confirm that the 720x576 -> 704x576 resolution patch is not the reason that ImgBurn doesn't want to properly write this DL DVD? I explain what it's about ... I record movies from satellite (DVB-S) in 720x576 and 704x576 (both resolutions are DVD compliant standard). However my authoring software Adobe Encore 2 requires the video streams in 720x576. Hence, I have to patch the streams using DVDPatcher before importing them into Encore. When the authoring is complete, I have to patch the concerned .vob files back to 704x576, otherwiese there's a green band at the right side of the movie. Is it possible that this manipulation disturbs ImgBurn somehow? Thanks
  7. Until now, I thought that the available disc space advertized on the DVDs is reliable (please confirm)?! I burned many DL DVDs which were filled even more. I tried 5 DL DVDs. I will try going from optimum (yellow star) to the position below (8386 -> 1 padding) ... ... later ... ... 8. Hi. Disk 5 failed right now. I kept on buring #30 video DL DVDs during the past 5 days. All went fine. This particular authoring doesn't want to stick on the disks (see ImgBurn log below). I also tried the "Don't update IFO/BUP file" option. No change. The only particularity with this DVD is, that I had to patch VTS_02_1.VOB to VTS_02_4.VOB to a different resolution (using DVDPatcher). But this should be of no interest for ImgBurn. Any ideas ... ? 9. I don't have to create an img file. I can also instruct Encore to create a VIDEO_TS folder including the .vob/.ifo/.bup files (makes the use of WinRAR obsolete). Is this preferential to the .img file when it comes to burning the stuff using ImgBurn? What about the VOBU/ECC question? Nobody knows? (and the other questions ...) 2 DL DVDs failed now. It starts to become expensive! The first DVD failed at the very end, the second in the middle.
  10. Hi. I created an image for a DL DVD+R using Adobe Encore DVD (2.0). When I burn the DVD using Encore, it's unreadable (for some reason). I was told to avoid Nero and use ImgBurn instead. Are the default ImgBurn settings the best choice? By mistake, I burned a DVD using this feature (out of the log): - What does this mean? - Do I have to expect problems with this DVD? Thanks, ... later ... The verify for this DVD failed
