  1. Thanks for the welcome blutach, I bought some Verbatim 8x DVD+R DLs (MKM-003-00, made in Singapore) on sale at Best Buy that thekochs alluded to and had my first successful DL burn! Not only did I not have a problem playing it back after the layer break, the transition to the second layer was barely noticeable. ImgBurn's best suggestion for the layer break was Good and SPLIP was Yes.....I have no idea what that means but I was under the impression that SPLIP=No is better????? Anyway, the Verbatim worked flawlessly (I burned it at 2.4x) after having 5 failed attempts with the Matrix brand discs. Thanks again, Vin
  2. Hi, great site, I'm learning a lot here, this is my first post: Rather than taking the advice given here regarding Verbatim, I purchased some Matrix DVD9s for my first attempt at burning DL discs (I've been using ImgBurn sucessfully until now for DVD5 burning). Well, this seems to have been a mistake....I know, I know, I was warned. Anyway, they have the same ID as the discs the OP is having trouble with (RICOHJPN-D01-67) and coincidentally I'm having the same issue. Although the discs appeared to burn with no errors, verified and fiinished successfully, they're all hanging at the layer break during playback on my Sony DVD player, a Zenith DVD/VHS combo player as well as the drive the discs were burned on, a TSST Corp. TS-L632M in my HP laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. I'll now be sure to pick up some Verbatim discs.....based on everything I've read here, I'm fairly certain my problem is due to the cheap media I've chosen. Thank you for all the helpful information, I hope to report back soon with more positive results. Vin (Edited to correct model # of my drive).
