  1. Seems like that's your answer for everything. It's never the application. Bare in mind, you haven't updated the application in over 3 years! So don't you think it's possible that your code may need a bit of tweaking?
  2. You didn't say that nor does your Pink Box which points to a link, to a page entitled.."Where can I find the ImgBurn log?" Guess what? That's what you got. 2.4X appears to be the only supported write speed... 3. Does not support a lower speed when advertised at 8X? Ok. Well when I looked at the info on the right side, it listed N/A for Speeds. Why can it simply not write at a lower speed? The media, even though its sold as Memorex, appears to be Ricotek (obviously what Memorex rips everyone off with) and $21 US for 10 discs is not cheap in my book. Thanks for the help and log included this time. -Rob ImgBurn.log
  4. I am trying to burn a DVD+R DL at 2.0X and for whatever reason, it still uses automatic write speed. I have went in and set the burner to 2X as max by the media and the selected the drive as 2x and it still comes up and says "wanted 2x.... got 4X".... WTF!!!!!! ???? How do I turn off the automatic write speed if I am not doing it right? If I select a write speed, why the H3!! doesn't it use it? Thanks, Rob
  5. I found a new in the wrapper IDE cable in my cabinet and this seems to correct the issue. Unfortunately the cable must be a little old b/c Cable Select was not recognizing the second drive. I just Mastered/Slaved and all seems well now.. I will say this older "but brand new in the wrapper"cable is more well made than this cheap ASUS cable that came with the MB... very thin and papery..... anyone want it...? LOL The good news is my DRU-720A was OK to begin with. I guess I'll sell or give the 510 away. Thanks, Rob
  6. yeah, you'd think NewEgg would have thrown in a cable with the purchase since I did buy there $10 1 year extended warranty on the drive... but it was only a $25 drive. The funny thing is that the cable is fairly new, it was from the ASUS MB I bought like 3 years ago and I just started using it last year. I'll try another cable and see what happens. Thanks, Rob
  7. sorry, I meant this was a same or similiar issue with the DRU-710A, not the log from my original post. Sorry about that. Rob
  8. I ended having the same or similiar problem with the new ASUS drive I got in, here's the log: I 08:20:44 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! completed sucessfully for IOCTL_STORAGE_MCN_CONTROL I've never had this caching issue until yesterday with ImgBurn and thats really the first time I've ever had a problem with the program. I wonder why Nero worked fine, hence released drive or drive released but would not for ImgBurn? Rob
  10. I've been using ImgBurn for a little while now and this is the first time I have ran into a problem with it or a problem like this (see Title). Basically I have no choice but to shut my system down completely in order for the program to end and release the drive. I'm using (in this case) a DRU-510A Sony... I have DRU-720A, but I am pretty sure its gone out due to numerous write errors in both Nero and ImgBurn (ran several tests and I think in that case of the 720A, its the drive). Anyway, I am using the lastest version of ImgBurn and the lastest firmware for the drive which is pretty old, but before we blame the 510A, I did successfully burn in Nero without any problems (same ISO file, same disc). I also was using 12X for the write in ImgBurn instead of MAX and noticed it was only burning at 4X, Nero burned at its MAX at 24X for that drive with CD-R. I'm also familiar with the DMA settings and they are set to DMA on all IDE channels. I ordered a new ASUS burner on NewEgg yesterday to replace the DRU-720A so hopefully I'll have more luck with that drive. Anyway here's the lastest log, its going to end with the Synchronising Cache, but bear in mind this is where I had to Power Down, I couldn't even initiate a Shut Down due to resources being hammered, and yes I did try to hit the stop and X button in ImgBurn to no avail: I 15:20:53 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! I 15:20:53 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 15:20:53 Total Physical Memory: 2,096,364 KB - Available: 1,524,592 KB I 15:20:53 Initialising SPTI... I 15:20:53 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 15:20:54 Found 3 DVD-ROMs and 2 DVD
