OK...yeah, I'm with ya now. Have the latter versions taken that big of a dive though? I've not kept up with the DL front as they are just too expensive to dabble with.
As usual when I start burning I don't have media already in drive.
So you might start burning today but not actually put any media in the drive until tomorrow...well, that makes perfect sense.
I got mine so I could surf the net outside and also take it to work to burn/watch movies....uh yeah.
I can also sit on the couch or just stay in bed if I want and still have just about everything I need at my fingertips PC wise.
Very much so. About 3 times the price here in Oz. Then you get to pull the lappy apart...... and they're absolute bastards to work on.
I agree completely...really wouldn't want to attempt a replacement myself, and to get it too fit with the mold of the case would be difficult as well. I did check on an NEC slimline for my laptop a few years ago and it was aroung $60 (US) if I remember correctly and eventually talked myself out of the venture. The way to go would be external via USB/firewire I would think.
There is nothing wrong with those Verbs you had, I just thought maybe they weren't included in the write strategy of the new firmware that you just flashed.
I'm in the US, but I think most of my friends in the UK buy their media from http://www.SVP.co.uk
The "media required" for that 97% should have been a DL disc too...
You need to compress your 8 gig original file with a program such as Recode to get it under 4400Mb and then you should be able to use Imgburn to burn that file onto one(1) single layer blank DVD.
Actually forgot this was a lappy....you can get a slimline for about 2X what an internal drive costs I do believe or get an external drive for about the same.
