I have solved the problem, it was the discs. I tried a different brand and -R instead of +R and it seems to have solved the issue. Thanks for your reply Lightning UK.

I have trouble finalising the disk. I am burning an ISO file to DVD+R Verbatim disks. I have a brand new Dell computer so am not sure what is going wrong!!
