  1. Ok, been searching for hours looking for the answer, nearly in tears with frustration.

I have burned many discs wiht imgburn (love it) but now i have a serious issue. I put in the blank disc, burn the iso no problem, i have a slot drive that i have to manually push back in the disc before verifying so i do that every time. Now comes the problem.... It won't acknowledge that the disc is there! no matter how many times i take it out and put it in again. Even if i cancell the process and go directly to verify it won't acknowlege the disc is there. It just says "device not ready (medium not present)".

So my question is why does it read the blanks and not the burned?

It just sticks at "waiting for device to become ready". Everything else in the log is normal.

    Please help.

  2. I 12:46:58 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x)

The problem is low quality media. Try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks and it should work fine

I've been using this same media at this place all the time, and at home and at work. it is the ONLY place that this is happening and only in the last few days?

  3. Maybe incompatibility between media and drive, maybe just a batch of bad media. If a RW disc is causing you trouble, try a full format.

  4. I've been burning iso's (posted past problems before) But now i've got a new problem again. I burn using a dell laptop (studio 15 dvd+r) and i do my burns in three different locations: work, home, a friends house. All of my burns at home work no problem, the burns i do at work rarely have problems, but in the past about 4 days of burning at my friends house i get an error message pop up towards the end of the verify process (about 95% complete). A window pops up saying that it is unable to read sectors such and such (or something like that) and gives me the option to cancel, try again, or continue. I hit continue, it pops up agian. i hit try again.. it pops up again (tried "try again" more tahn 10 times in a row and same message). afterwards i just give up and hit cancel then the program say "ohhh nooo" and fails to verify. HOWEVER the discs seem to play fine! This ONLY happens at my friends house, no where else. Why might this be happening?? It doesnt happen ALL the time, but about 4 out of every 5 do this now.

  5. ok and what does it say in the statusbar?

Does it make a difference if you have a disc in the drive or not?

Can't remember at this moment what it says in the status bar... it is currently writing a disc.

it doesn't matter if there is a disc in it or not. i thought it liked having the disc in before opened the program, but i'm being proved wrong now. it does it no matter what.

sometimes it helps if i go into "my computer" and click on the drive when there is a disc in it just to tell it to wake up. then it works.

  6. Yes you do, just copy + paste what you see in the Log window.

That's just it... all i get is:

    I 10:51:24 ImgBurn Version 2.4.3.0 started!

I 10:51:24 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1)

    I 10:51:24 Initialising SPTI...

I 10:51:24 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

    nothing more than that.....

  7. 1. Downloading the thing in the FAQ isn't a magical fix, you're supposed to use to get a debug log and then show it to me.

    2. If the drive can't read the disc, no wonder it was taking a while. You probably had a crappy burn - are you using decent media? Try burning at 8x or 12x instead of max (if that's what you're doing).

    3. If you system gets hung up then it gets hung up. ImgBurn is not in control once the command has been sent to the drive and if if never gets a response it doesn't have the ability to abort anything.

On bootup your machine does lots of stuff, once it's finished it'll idle again.

see... that's the thing. i dont get the debug log. it just stick at the searching part.

    i'm burning at 5x.

  8. Okay, i've posted problems before and you are all usually good at finding me an answer. So please help me find an answer before i chuck this silly laptop accross the room....

so here are my issues that are coming up....

    1) Stuck at searching for scsi/atapi devices .... i downloaded the thing in the "faq" section, but it still just gets stuck here but tells me nothing more than that. i try shut down the program and it freezes so i have to unplug the cord and battery. had to do this about 6 times in a row last night.

    2) last night verifying the disc was VERY slow. what usually takes 10-11 minutes took upwards of 20 minutes. got an error message with numbers on it, but it asked if i wanted to try again, i hit yet, it finished no problem. the other time it took long to verify it didnt pop up with that message, but it still finished fine.

    3) If a burn gets stuck in the middle of the write, i can't abort the project. I hit the button and nothing happens. again, unplug and pull battery. How long should it take to abort?

    4) there are other days that the setup works BEAUTIFULLY, no errors, no bad discs, no freezing, finds the drive with no hassle, each disk take 15:54 to burn and 10ish to verify. like clockwork.

    Any advice would be awesome!

oh ya... one more question not related to imgburn, but still computer related.... my cpu usage seems to be really high upon startup 20%+..... normal?

  9. here's the log. it went wonky on my so i had to shut down again, but this time it finds the drive no trouble. but here's the log anyway......

  10. Open it without a disc in the drive and the drive tray closed.

If that takes ages then you have a problem.... read the FAQ about it getting stuck on the 'searching...' thing, enabled I/O debug mode (like it tells you to) and then post the log once it's finally finished loading.

It's also worth keeping an eye on the status bar (once I/O debug mode has been enabled) to see if it gets stuck on any one thing for a while as it tries to find all the drives in your PC.

So even though the program EVENTUALLY finds the burner i should run this? Will it effect anything since it is now currently working?

I had about 35 gb of space free so i moved off two iso's so now i'm back up to around 45gb free and it seems okay. Perhaps it is just a space issue?? I'm just nervous about running things if perhaps i dont have to?

  11. So i've been having this problem EVERY time i start up imgburn for at least the past 1 - 2 weeks. I start up windows (vista ... sigh) and then i instert the blank disk. I found that that helped before for the program to recognize the drive. then i open imgburn. it opens then just sits at "searching for scsi/atapi devices" . when i try close the program, no luck. have to start task manager then end task. after this i can't get the computer off so i have to pull the plug and the battery to reboot. this usually happens about 3 times in a row, THEN it decides to find the drive???

Also, just now i let it sit there... and it took over 5 minutes to find the dvd+r drive???

What is going on? I'm pretty sure it is the computer's problem, not the software... so any insite on how to fix it?

  12. Ok, so i've posted a problems prior to this, but now the problems are getting very frequent, like 1 out of 4 dvd's fail.

sometimes the program gets going all fine and good, but then seizes in the middle of teh burn. no reason given, won't exit, won't give back my disc. so i have to unplug and take out the battery of the laptop.

other times now the burning finishes, but then the program freezes at closing track 90%. same process... unplug, pull battery.

the other day as well the disc finished, and usually it pops out the disc and asks me to put the disc back in to verify... but not that time? the disc worked though so that's good.

i'm using Verbetim discs right now, before it was Memorex.

I would include the log, but i usually just think "oh, this it just a random mishap no bother". well now it's a bother.

I'm burning from ISO to DVD+R, 5x, verify after burn, eject tray after burn (because if I don't.... it freezes again)

Is this a software or hardware issue? I know usually software people blame hardware and vise versa, but an honest answer would be greatly appreciated. Imgburn seems to be the only program that will work on my computer (which is only 3 months old)

  13. I've got a bin and cue file of a dvd that i'm trying to burn to a dvd+r. Is this possible? I keep getting a message about modes or something and that the conversion can't be done. I'm trying to play the file on a ps2 or regular dvd player. advice?

  14. Terminating AutoInsert Thread...... That's what it says now that it froze again. This time i finished burning a dvd. took out the disk. selected a new iso. inserted a new blank dvd+r. it said devide not ready (medium not present). so i take out the disc. try close. and it freezes and says "terminating autoinsert thread". ?

  15. What does it say in the status bar and log window when you say 'it freezes'.

There's always a reason for it and it's normally driver related.

Something about "treading"? or something like that. Sometimes "opening device" even though i already have the disc out. Some other things too but i can't really remember. Just froze now and said "opening device". this time i didnt have the disc and had to crash the computer to get the disc.

  17. I've been using imgburn for a little while now. works well. recently the program has been freezing after verification. i'm burning dvds. i thought it was my driver because it wouldn't spit out the dvd, but then i set the program to spit out the dvd and the program stilll freezes. everytime i have to then crash the laptop (plug out and pull battery) because nothing else will work from there, sometimes not even task manager. I'm using a brand new computer (only two months) and have over 100 gb of free space. i'm burning to dvd from an iso. is there a way to fix the problem?
