  1. Verify against file verifies it against the file you burned What does normal verify do? Just try to see if the disc is readable? Wouldn't the best solution to be calculate an MD5 of the ISO as you read/burn it, and then calculate it again reading back burned disc and compare? Tell me I'm stupid if this is what it already does - but if it's the case, why would you bother verifying it against the file? To see if perhaps some reading of the source file could have been corrupted?
  2. Also I get this same blinking for a few seconds then stopping when I go to erase full with ImgBurn. However, when I erase full with Alcohol 120% it works.
  3. When I pop a brand new DVD+RW into the drive, here's what happens. I go to format it, and it blinks on and off for a few seconds (maybe 20 seconds), then stops. At this point I have to cancel the program (I used to use Alcohol 120%). After that, formatting works. The way I know it's working is that the light doesn't blink, it stays on the whole time. I thought this may be a bug in Alcohol 120%, but ImgBurn does the same thing. First time, blink blink and then stops, and ImgBurn is waiting for something that's never going to happen. So I force crash it. Second time, it works (light stays on). Can anyone explain to me what's going on here? SONY DW-D18A (OEM DRU700) and standard DVD+RW media (two different brands, same thing).
  4. I'm fairly sure Alcohol 120% put Pfc there (from Padus), as the exe references it.
  5. On the new ones they are TTH02, on the old ones they were something else. Even though the capacity is the same. Interestingly these are 1-16 while the others were 1-8, but for some odd reason these 1-16 don't support 8x on my 8x drive. Even though I always burn in 4x anyway. Good luck with them so far but only burned about 5.
  6. Okay I found something called PxHelp20 and another thing called Pfc, both seem to have something to do with burn engines or somethimg. Apparantly the first may have come from Winamp 5 even though I don't remember trying it out. I'll do more Googling on the matter! Edit: I've removed PxHelp20. Pfc seems to have come from Alcohol 120%. Not sure what installed PxHelp20. I'll see if it helps.
  7. I'm not sure what all that bitsetting does, but is this possible? Long story short, my DVD player (and DVD-ROM in my computer) sometimes has trouble with the DVD-R stuff I burn, usually near the end of the disc (it will just struggle to read it). My actual burner reads them back fine. Unfortuantely I went and bought 100 spindle of DVD-R, I could have sworn I picked DVD+R in the store, but once I got it home and opened, I saw to my dismay they were -R. Can I burn them as +R or am I dreaming?
  8. The only thing I can think of is this Ulead DirectBurn thing that came with my DTV card. Except that I have the service disabled so it doesn't even load!
  9. Do you know of a program which can build UDF/ISO9660 bridge with support over 2GB? Which isn't just a frontend for mkisofs (which doesn't work over 2GB anyway). Actually I found one ages ago, but it was bloated and slow as hell and I've forgotten the name.
  10. I am familiar with mkisofs anyway. Unfortunately it doesn't support files over 2GB in UDF like it should. I use CDRWin or just use DVD Shrink in backup mode, without any shrinking required obviously.
  11. Nothing else using the drive. I know with Windows, you can never know what stupid things it's doing behind the scenes, but I even have Autorun disabled. It didn't used to happen and even when it did, I could just close WMP and it would work again.
  12. Topic says it all. I'll admit right now that I'm using DVD Decrypter, but I would assume it's the same write engine. This never used to happen, except when I had Windows Media Player open (which would obviously hijack my CD drives). Now it's happening at least half the time I go to burn something. Nothing else is using the drive. Worst thing is that when I try to cancel, DVD Decrypter doesn't respond (it totally hangs). Then I can force crash it, but it only closes the window, it actually stays in memory. So reboot is required. I've now disabled locking, but I don't think I should have had to. Maybe this is/was a known issue and is addressed in ImgBurn?
  13. Incidently what do you use to turn your VIDEO_TS folder into ISOs?
  14. That's promising. I figured when you removed PUOs and rewrote IFO files etc. to remove protection, you'd have to parse and rewrite the file system?
  15. I've searched in vain for a simple freeware that can build a simple UDF/ISO file system. One of the problems I keep running into the problem that files over 1GB don't work on UDF (CDRWin) - so I'm still using ISO, but that limits to 2GB (mkisofs doesn't support over 2GB on UDF either). Maybe you can add the support to this? I would assume the basic groundwork of UDF/ISO file system is there, from DVD Decrypter days.
