The log is empty, and i had to close the burning window(actually hard reset pc) seems it seemd to be stuck. But I can assure you there was nothing out of the ordinary there, it was just like every other succesfull burn process(untill speed went to 0) and the log window didn't indicite a change even when the burning failed. The only change was the write speed and time remaining which changed.

I am burning an xbox backup for the 2nd time now with my newly acquired dvd Writer Sony NEC Optiarc High Speed (AD-5240S-01). I aimed for the dvd file and set max speed setting. Imgburn picked 2.4 speed and burned till 44% and then something strange happens and it goes to 0 speed and all activity is gone, the burning is in still in progress as we speak over 1 hour now... It doesn't give an error but there isn't any dvd activity on my writer and imgburn says writerate 0 0.0x time remaining unknown... ALso I tried cancelling.. but it won't let me cancel + won't let me eject the drive.. so basically its stuck.. What could be wrong? What can I do? The first disc burned perfectly fine which is the same media(Arita RITEK-D01-01) Thanks.

Would an IDE or Sata be better? I have 4 ports of SerialATA 1.5Gb/s and 2 ATA133 IDE ports on my mainboard. Or even an external USB drive. Which will prove to be the best/stabel for burning xbox 360 backups? Thanks.

Im not sure as I have 2 different arita's (old ones purple) new ones white I don't even know what the use of dvd-ram is, but I think its of no use to xbox 360? Yes my current burner is IDE, I do have SATA 1.5 Gb/s connector onboard. Thanks. It doesn't matter much which u get for xbox 360 burning? Currently I use cheap arita media... I still have 10+ left.. If they work fine on it, I will keep using those.. If not I switch to verbatim.

Still errors... wasted another 3 dvd's... got up to date firmware now so... And I don't think it's the media because like what 8 disc failing after one another? I never had this problem after each other only sometimes one disc. And also It seems most of the time it can't go further than writing leadin.... Normally that is done within 10+ seconds and it keeps hanging there... Arghh hate it, don't know what's wrong... OK thanks Now I got dualboot normally I burn at windows xp Might it make a difference If I burn trough windows 7?

What about now? Can you see where the newer firmware is? Using the latest firmware, cleaning the burner's lens and trying all the available write speeds is about all you can do besides using better quality blanks. The other option would be buying a new burner that has better support for your blanks. I see sorry didn't see a link before haha... so I see 1.04 there good... (im very cautious because if you go wrong.. it's over) One more questiom Connect the drive as?master?by it self, on the secondary IDE controller with no other device on the same IDE cable, making note to set the jumper on the back of the drive to the?master?position Is this very important? What could be the consequenes if you don't? Because I updated last time without checking any of this.(maybe reason of my trouble?) I know my dvd drive is on a seperate IDE cable.. don't know if it's master or secondary. and don't know about the jumper aswell... How do I know all this? Thanks again very much.

Well then like I said the media might not be the best, but for 5 direct fails after each other? Seems unlikely when I burned so many succesfull. Sure 5 fails overtime not strange, but in a row it is to me. Hmm a cleaning disc? I haven't got that. Can't you do that with a normal disc ? Mmalves newer firmware? I checked the official LG website, and 1.03 is newest there... sooo.. Don't know where you are looking? Thanks. My firmware is 100% up to date, and no I won't change media Since I still have alot of those dvd's and I never have this problem before and I burned 50+ dvd's. The problem must be somewhere else..?

I burn at 4.0 x speed 1. he hanged at lead in and didn't even write anything. 2.he took 5 minutes for lead in and then burned 6%. then speed went 0 x and got the error. 3. other time @ 30% ish While before this, I burned 5 backups perfectly this week with the same media and settings. So now I wasted 3 dvd's already... What could be the problem? Thanks. dvd-drive: LG HL-DT -ST DVD-RAM GH22LP20 1.3 Media used: dvd dual layer Arita (yes I know not an A brand, but I burned 50 + games with it fine.)
