You have to try all the available speeds to see if one of those speeds will produce a working disc. A lens cleaning disc in that drive might help. Try other media, different from SONY16D1 MID/dye. Verbatim are recommended. If all fails, buy a new drive that can burn that media. Thanks, ianymaty This PC is only a month old, I seriously don't think it's the drive? In trying the other speeds, would 4x be the safest bet then? In the meantime, I tried another DVD file to burn and essentially got the same results. It did go to 5% completion but the Device Buffer went to -12309% (something about that number...), and it was stuck at "Writing sectors..." for 15 min before giving me the same error message. I recently dl'ed ImgBurn. I tried burning a folder of a DVD onto a new DVD disc but ran into some trouble. I used 16x speed, ImgBurn did its thing (I think), then the Device Buffer went all the way to -12309%. It only completed 1% and I got an I/O error message. I saved the error log in my PC but don't know quite where to find it now... I then tried the burn again, this time at 8x speed. Again, the same thing happened. ImgBurn did its thing, then the Device Buffer went to -12309%, then got another I/O error message. This time I cut and paste the error log below. I also tried to figure out where the log was being filed away, and it says it's in Users>USer>Appdata>Roaming>ImgBurn... but I couldn't find this on my hard drive. Anyone have a clue?
