  1. hello yup i got another port i can connect it to. the back of the burner is connected to this white sata plug thats always been there since i got this new computer. its labeled something about its speed or something. but this isnt the burner that came with it couldnt burn blurays if i recall. so i reused my burner from the previous computer. so basically what im saying is why did it work at first and now it happens everytime that it freezes and says that message? please let me know. thanks in advance.

  3. hello i just got a new PC and now ive been having trouble with imgburn on it. the previous computer and my burner i had with imgburn had no problems at all from that app. the burner is a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-S08. that and imgburn are up to date. Everytime i burn a bluray dual layer it freezes after it completes writing the disc and it says cycling tray before verify. im using Verbatim bd blanks. also if i try to exit the imgburn after that it freezes the log and my drive and says searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices. I have to use task manager to end the task to get it to exit. but then my bd drive is unaccessable. hopefully you guys can help me solve this. also i checked the logs to get info about the times it froze but for some reason those times werent listed. thought imgburn logs every burn. if you still want to see the log please let me know even though it doesnt list the times where the problem occurs. thanks in advance
  4. hi is it possible for imgburn to somehow tell me what the write speed of a previously burnt blu-ray disc is? my problem is because i made two copies of a couple of discs with some with different write speeds. That was when I was having trouble with my PS3. I didn't realize at the time that my lens and optical drive were dying and that was the reason why the discs weren't playing right hence the duplicate burnt discs. I now have a new burner and a new PS3. The discs i've tried so far are playing fine now, but those are discs that i burnt in 2x which is what i want. i know about the log file option but i can't tell which one is based on which is the 2x or the 4x burn since i didn't mark that info on the disc label. I would like to keep 2x copies now since some people ive spoke to say burning at 2x for bd's is better and safer in the long run. I just want these discs to last long is all. I tried read mode but i didn't see anything that said what the burnt speed was. i'd really hate to redo the duplicate discs over again in 2x. I know this all sounds a lil silly but bluray blanks aren't cheap at least the ones i get from Japan on ebay which seem to be the cheapest for dual layer bds. Thanks in advance if anyone is able to help me.
  5. hey lightning uk got a new burner and it seems to be working good. its a LG WH14NS40. i noticed however on the last few burns i made that there is 2 inner circles on the data surface. there werent there before burning the disc. i still have to watch those discs to check they work ok but i wasn't sure if they would degrade over time because of those marks. the blanks im using are Verbatim Mitsubishi Kagaku Media BD-R DL from Japan. I didn't know where else to ask this. if this isnt the right place to ask this can you please suggest where it would be appropriate. Thanks in advance.
  6. hey lightning uk could you tell me if a hdd that is going bad cause bad bluray burns? i ran a scan (using Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows) on the drive i use most for bd backups and it passed both tests. nothing seems to be wrong with it according to it. that drive is a internal hdd. my second question is what exact brand of taiyo yuden bd-r dl's do you recommend? i usually get my bd blanks off ebay and have seen them there. usually i just get the Verbatim brand. thanks in advance.
  7. the two bd drives are both internal. the hdd with the bds stored on them is internal. i tried the buffer increase to 256mb on my bd drive that i updated the firmware to and it burnt successfully without a buffer error. i burnt a bd50gb from my other hdd that has bds stored on it and it burnt fine with the blu burner ATAPI iHBS212 2 HL05 (the drive that i first reported having troubles with). with that same drive i was able to burn a bd25 earlier that was on the hdd that is full of bds stored on it. could a hdd that is going bad cause bad bluray burns? i know its sounding confusing but if you have any other advice id love to hear it. im out of bd50's now and i only have bd25's. but i don't have any bd25 backups right now that i can burn. im planning on buying some more bd50 blanks and a new burner sometime this week... P.S. Are the taiyo yuden bd-r dl's sold on ebay from japan good? i wasn't sure cause i thought the one that verbatim users recommend has verbatim in the name with taiyo yuden. im confused. can someone tell me the right brand to look for that is the best for bd-r dl's?
  8. hi crap. i don't know what else was running that would do that. i mean i always try to make sure nothing's running before burning. and i don't surf the net while its burning either. the hdd that disc comes from is my backup drive for bds. are you saying that drive is failing? if not anything i can do to get it to work better? iike i said i burnt two bd25s earlier that were off that drive and no buffering messages appeared. however like i said it only seems to show the buffering message on the drive i updated the firmware to.
  9. update to my situation. i burnt another bd50 on the drive that was causing the original problem and it showed the same message. however i burnt two bd25's without any problem messages on that same drive today. so i guess it is a bad last batch at the end of the spindle. its a spindle of 50 verbatim bd50gb. im gonna have to seek verbatim taiyo yuden's next time to avoid a bad batch. so any further help to my situation to both drives? i found a good drive i wanna buy but i was wondering whats the problem with the drive that says I 10:22:56 Writing Sectors... W 10:23:49 Waiting for buffers to recover... (LBA: 7818016) W 10:23:56 Waiting for hard disk activity to reach threshold level... that was my drive that i updated firmware to today...do you think that maybe the reason why? i burnt a dvd using a different program and it seemed to burn ok on this drive. it was a verbatim btw
  10. hi ive been getting this message with every bd i try to burn recently. i tried a cleaning disc from maxell. i ran it two separate times. i am going to try a 25gb verbatim and see if it works. but now i have a new problem. i just tried burning a bd on my other disc drive "HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH10LS30" and it gave a error message. i was burning a bd25 and i updated the firmware earlier today. before i updated the firmware on it i tried burning the same bd25 and it hung on verifying it. it wouldn't go past 0% in verfirying it. my only 2 guesses at this point why im having all these troubles with these drives is that either i scratched the lens or messed them up somehow when i was cleaning inside the computer tower with dust away or the hdd's my backups are on are failing. heres the log tht i got just now for the 2nd bd drive that i tried burning a bd25. this is the drive i just updated the firmware on. 11. i guess it's time to retire this drive huh? any help would be greatly appreciated. i have the firmware HL05 for this Lite-On ATAPI iHBS212 and i cannot find any newer. i thought maybe there was a conflict with Windows 8.1?
  12. hi everyone sorry if this has been posted before. i searched around and all i found was old posts and not bluray. i have a Lite-On ATAPI iHBS212 with the latest firmware. Recently i have been getting this message appear while burning a bd. there are three things i think may be causing this. 1 i cleaned out my cpu tower and there was a lot of dust and stuff which i cleaned out and i may have by accident sprayed the dust away on part of the bd drive im having trouble with. 2nd is my friend suggested me to use ccleaner to remove registry entries that were taking up useless space. and 3 is the drive may be just at the end of its lifecycle. i use a lens cleaner after getting the message below. after using the lens cleaner it burnt without that message appearing. I am using Verbatim bd-r dl 4x. i choose 4x cause that's basically the only speed i find at a decent price for this brand on ebay. EDIT: i just thought of something. could it be the discs i wanna burn on my hdd could that hdd be becoming bad? ive been using one drive for tons of discs and have had it for a few years now and constantly deleteing stuff off it. here is my logfile: ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 - Log ; Tuesday, 10 December 2013, 11:29:18 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 10:30:39 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started! 13. oh ok. i will stick with ODC then. yeah i have a liteon bd drive as my second disc drive in my tower. but it's a 25gb burner. most of bd burns are on DL. will that be a problem with using that drive with ODC?
  14. hey lightning thanks again for the info. one more inquiry. i just looked at the site for Opti drive control. downloaded it but i didn't see cdspeed on there. is it discontinued? am i good with just opti drive control?
  15. hey lightning thanks for the speedy reply. i have some questions i'd like to ask you. i forgot to mention that i've always used the verify feature with my BDs until i tried the two burns mentioned above. what i don't get is how that small handful of discs that i burnt months ago that i also mentioned above were faulty. i burnt those at 4x and used verify and yet they still were faulty. you say my verbatim media is rated for 4x. so that means i can only burn at 4x on that type of blank correctly? on the actual discs it lists just 4x not 2x-4x. that's why i ask. i will try Opti Drive Control / CDSpeed. i found opti drive control in google but is cdspeed the name of the developer or another app? i just wanna be sure. isn't it true that for bd burning it's safest to burn at the slowest speed to get the best error free burn? like 2x? i've been using 4x speed for BD's for over a year now and i've had pretty good sucess with it. my last question is do you know by any chance how i got that I/O error? thanks in advance for your further answers.
  16. hello i decided to try burning at 2x speed on imgburn with blu-ray's when i noticed that recently i've had a small handful of faulty burns with bd's at 4x. they were burned over the course of a couple of months. but since then i've had no problems. but i wanted to be sure that i never have that problem again. so i asked some friends who use Imgburn to burn blurays and they suggested burning at 2x and when i asked if it's necessary to verify they said no. They said to just check the disc by scanning some chapters and playing some of the extras to see if they work or just watch the disc in its entirety. I use Verbatim BD-R DL 4x or Verbatim BD-R 4x for single layer. so i don't think it's my blanks. And when i burn bd's on imgburn i always make sure that software that doesn't need to be running isn't on and that there's no downloads going on. Last night i tried my friends advice at burning at 2x and without verify and i got this log: I 22:14:53 ImgBurn Version 2.5.6.0 started! 17. i forgot to mention something. a few months ago i made a post on here with another blu-ray burning problem. i kept getting the yellow buffering messages in the log with pretty much any blu-ray i attempted to burn. it turns out the reason was that i had the source iso's i was burning stored on my OS drive. so what i did was i moved the iso's to burn onto one of my internal drives that installed and since then i've never gotten a yellow buffering error when burning blu-rays in iso format. this is just a hunch now but do you think it would make a difference if i moved the iso's yet again to my 3rd internal drive? i mean i think the OS drive wasn't as powerful as the internal drives or had too much going on in the background on the OS drive. i just wanna be sure before i attempt burning another blu-ray. thanks in advance to anyone who can help me solve this.
  18. hi i am having problems today with my LG WH10LS30. i tried burning a iso and on first attempt it failed before starting to write the disc. the second attempt it got to "Synchronising Cache..." and took forever to do that. i think it skipped that cause right after when it said finalising disc it said "Finalise Disc Failed! - Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format" i thought it was originally because i had a disk mounted in imgburn when i did the first attempt so i unmounted it and then on second attempt to burn i got that finalise disc failure. keep in mind i use the same brand i've had success with in the past. the Verbatim BD-R DL 4x (bought from a japanese source). never had a problem until today. i burned a dvd using clonedvd the other night and that worked. i think i know why it's doing it tho. a couple of days ago i i had a stuck dvd in this drive. i use the paperclip in the hole on the drive trick and it popped out but was still spinning when it came out. maybe that messed up my drive idk. also i have the latest firmware it seems for this LG drive. here is my log. can somebody tell me how i can burn bd-r's again. or do i need to buy a new blu-ray drive? thanks! 19. oh ok. i wasn't fully aware of that. thanks for letting me know. i have a slim PS3 too. i searched on amazon for a ps3 cooling fan and found this. what do you think of it? PS 3 Slim - Intercooler Slim yeah man i don't copy ps3 games either. i don't have any interest either. homebrew is what got me into CFW. you're so right about ps3 regarding a media player. i use PS3 Media Server myself. actually today they updated the stable version. check it out pal. get it here ps3 media server my favorite media player for ps3. i like it better than TVersity.
  20. oh ok. i don't have a amplifier (Surround sound you mean right) i just hook it up to my stereo that has big speakers and subwoofers. it's not a amplifier but it works for me until i get the money for a real amp. cool. my entertainment table it rests on has no closed doors or vents at the rear. there's not enough room to stand it upright. so it's sitting flat on its back. do you think i should get what you suggest or just get a ps3 cooler? they have both at amazon.com right? gotcha. yeah i don't really need psn. so i'll keep it at 3.55. the main reason is for the homebrew. that sucks. i'll keep that in mind. thanks for letting me know.
  21. been sick. been meaning to answer back sooner. sounds fair. by digital amplifier you mean like a hdtv or hdmi cable or both? that's what i have. i just wanna be sure is all. i'll have to buy a ps3 cooler thing to keep it cool. what are they called exactly? i'll pick one up soon. i have custom firmware 3.55 on my ps3. when i turn it on i get booted from the psn network with this message that i can't seem to recall off hand. i don't think i was banned tho. i never got the memo about the new terms of service tho when i would boot up on the ps3. weird. that firmware update making some blu-rays not working is tht with copies and is it happening with firmware 3.60? do you know by any chance? right. thanks for the advice shamus. let me know about my questions above if you can when you get the chance. i appreciate the help you've been giving me.
  22. wow. i can't believe i'm finding this out now. before i bought my Playstation 3 (which was like almost 2 years ago i think) i did some research on its reputation and how well it does as a Blu-ray player. i was more interested in getting it as a blu-ray player than a game machine cause i just don't play video games as much anymore and i already have a XBOX360 for that anyway. i read some people's thoughts on the net and i kept hearing that the PS3 is (or at least was at the time) one of the best Blu-ray players on the market. plus i liked how it was able to play stuff recorded on blu-ray blanks without any real problems. at least that's what i read too. my friend is interested in getting a blu-ray player soon and i recommended a ps3 for the reasons i got one. you wouldn't have a recommendation for a good blu-ray player that can play blu-rays and recorded blu-rays without problems would you? or a site that you can guide me toward? cool, thanks. i will check out this link and the other link you gave me today. thanks again pal oh ok. again this is news to me. i sure hope my PS3 lasts for a couple more years. yeah, i'm familiar with MKV and PS3 Media Server. love that media server. i use it all the time. didn't know that ps3 has no problems with the MKV2VOB app. i might look into the MKV stuff. but to be honest i prefer to have exact copies of blu-rays with menus and extras intact and uncompressed video and audio. i'm kinda of a perfectionist when it comes to quality and home theater. that's just me.
  23. hmm. i didn't know that there's a LG drive in my PS3. i originally thought upon reading your reply that you were referring to the LG drive on my computer. is that one (a HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH10LS30) considered a crappy drive too? and can you tell me when you know a ps3's blu-ray drive is dying. like signs of it? unfortunately i only have the ps3 and the lg drive on the computer for blu-ray playback right now. thought that'd be all i would need. guess not .
  24. oh ok. gotcha. i agree with doxola that that is a excellent explanation. but yeah see the reason why i was so concerned with these notifications in the logfile was that i thought they were related to a issue i was having with some burns where i would i play a blu-ray copy and it would play to a certain point and then it would freeze and then skip ahead several seconds ahead. this was played on my Playstation 3. i know that player can be sensitive to playing some stuff according to what i read. so i went on my computer and played back the ISO on my computer and it would get to the point and then multicolored video artifacts would appear on the screen for a few seconds and then disappear. it would continue playing fine from then on. i initially figured it was due to those notifications i was getting that i told you about. but now i am thinking it was just due to the original disc being a bad disc. anyway that's all i can i come up with. again i really appreciate the help you guys have been giving me with Imgburn. i am more confident when using this program. if you have any insight into what i said above regarding what i said about the playback issue with my Playstation 3 please let me know. thanks!
