Thanks for the reply. Yes, the source file does play on my computer in VLC. (I can play the stream from the BDMV folder just fine) I guess my questions would now be would a bad disc do this - say the burn is successful and then have no picture, consistently? Or does it sound like a setting issue?

Here is the process - .mkv tsmuxer'ed to .m2ts to AVCHD file to play on ps3. I have tried this at auto and 2.4 speeds. This has worked flawlessly for reg DVDs for files under 4.7 gig (%100) with both "good" and "poor" quality discs. Now I've purchased some DLs for larger video files and every time: sound but no picture. No, they are not Verbatim (Falcon Media ... I know ... that sounds very cheap but supposedly not?), so that may be the problem, but since I am not getting any errors on the burn and there is still sound I am making sure it is not some setting that can be changed before I buy a different brand.
