How Do I Make A Dvd From Avi Files?

Is it supposed to take 8 hours to encode and burn, or is dvd flick frozen. It's been sitting on "finalize" for an hour now. -
Can ImgBurn do this? I just wan to make a playable dvd, out of avi files. I tried just burning them to dvd, then playing on my xbox, but that doesn't work. I thought the 360 was ok with avi files, but I guess not.
