  1. I too had a problem with burning dl disks. I have 2 observations. 1. The obvious question is: Are you sure that the standard Dell Optiarc dvd+rw 7580S drive is a dual layer burner? It might be only a single layer burner. 2. Assuming that the drive is a true dl burner, the problem is more than likely your disks. I have 2 dual layer burners, and one of them (the older one) completely refuses to burn a memorex disk. The newer burner will usually burn a dual layer disk, but it is really hit and miss with that drive as well. I have read several forum posts where all dual layer disks are problematic with the exception of Verbatim. I found a 50 disk cakebox of Verbatim disks on Amazon for $49.95 ($1 per disk), bought them, and have not had any problems since. It would be worth you while to buy Verbatim disks. Have a great weekend! Ed Wood
  2. I have been working on archiving the old Perry Mason tv series (262 1 hour episoses). I am putting them on dual layer disks (8 episodes to a disk) to cut down on the number of disks needed. I am using DVD Flick to select, edit, and burn the disks. Quite often I set the disk to burn overnight so that I can free up my computer during the daytime for other uses. Since ImgBurn is the program that DVD Flick uses for burning the disks, sometime during the overnight burn process ImgBurn pauses waiting on me to select the layer break position. It could be several hours before I get back to the computer to make the selection. Does ImgBurn have a setting that allows for the program to automatically set the layer break on a dual layer DVD? When I purchased my new DVD DL burner, I received a copy of CyberLink Power2Go version 7 with the burner. That program does not ask for a layer break setting. It automatically creates its own setting. I found this out when I had a burn error on my old DVD burner. The vob files were already created, so I simply did a drag and drop of the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS files to CyberLink Power2Go. It created the DL DVD without a hitch. It would be nice if ImgBurn could accomplish this feat as well. Thanks for a good program. I look forward to the next version with more enhancements. Ed
  3. The problem was not the disks, it was the burner - an HP dvd 1041i writer. I purchased a new ASUS SDRW-08D2S-U Slimline External player and have not burned a coaster yet! It might be that my Memorex DVD+R DL disks are approximately 2 1/2 - 3 years old and were made when Memorex "cared" about quality. Thanks for all the help you offered. Ed
  4. I don't think that the media is the problem. As stated above there are Memorex DVD+R DL disks. I have been using them for some time without any problems burning them. In fact, this session is the only time I have had a problem with them. I think the problem is that I am missing some configuration setting that I can't seem to find. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Ed Wood
  5. ImgBurn PM Log File.logDVDFlick is on autopilot. It automatically starts ImgBurn at the appropriate time in the process. There was never a dialog window that popped open to allow me to set the layer break position. Yesterday, I opened ImgBurn and loaded the files for the Perry Mason disk I was trying to create. ImgBurn then gave me the dialog window for setting the layer break position. It worked for several minutes then a new dialog window popped up with the error message: Set L0 Data Zone Capacity Failed! - Reason: Power Calibration Area Error. Attached is the error log from this burning episode. I ran the process again, and got the same error message again. Maybe someone can intrpret this file and tell me what I need to do to correct the error. Thanks for your help. Have a great weekend! Ed Wood
  6. I am trying to burn a DL disk using DVDFlick (latest release of both DVDFlick and ImgBurn). I am trying to create a library of the old Perry Mason TV series. I can burn 4 episodes on a 5gb (single layer) DVD, but when I try to burn 8 episodes on a 9gb (dual layer) DVD, ImgBurn locks up. The ImgBurn window shows the task message "Preparing Images" for what it is doing but does not go any further. I have let it run all night (16 hours) and it never advances past that stage. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with 4gb ram, 2 1tb harddrives, and a HP DVD Writer 1040i Dual Layer Burner. I am using Memorex DVD+R DL disks record speed for disks is rated at 2.4x. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your help. Ed Wood
