what you suggested worked with the external dvd drive thanks so much dont suppose you know a simliar fix for the laptop dvd drive.

thanks for the advise sorry how would I change the write speed on imgburn ? would you say there is an internal problem as my main dvd drive reads discs but again only burns blanks with convertxtodvd and then gets the above error
