  1. Well after a 30 mile round trip...the numpty in maplins gave me dvd-r!! not what I had asked for....grabbed a lense cleaning disc while I was there as well and ran it, thought what the hell and decided to try one of the cheap Tesco dvd's the other half had purchased to see if I was still getting any errors...To cut a long story short, it burned fine and works in the car satnav fine!! However I'm still going going to burn it onto the more reliable verbatim disc...thanks for all your help.
  2. does the output need to be set to dvd-rom? just from looking at the firmware for the HP drive it doesn't support write dvd-rom...everything else apart from that it would seem, and there is no available firmware update or anything that it can be flashed with!
  3. Well now off to go buy some Verbatim discs...do you think it is the disc quality causing it to crash with regards the HP machine? do i restore to factory settings or use the info contained within the .mds file to set the layer break point? thanks again

  6. I load the mds file and it keeps stopping at the layer break point...is this down to the cheap media or something else as when I go to tools>iso>get layer break info........i get:failed to get layer break information from ifo data...now off to get some verbatim, but wonder will it make a difference?
  7. When I use Tools>iso>display layer.......It also says: failed to get layer break information from ifo data.
  8. Definitely a double layer disk, albeit a cheap Tesco own brand that the other half brought. Am now going to pick up some verbatim ones, but don't want to waste them at the rate I have these if the discs are not the problem!
  9. Is it connected to where it starts to write onto the second layer?
  10. now this error on second try...really want to try find out what the problem is before waste any more discs if possible?
  11. Any idea what is causing this please?
  12. After much trolling I have found out that it doesn't need to be bootable, THEN when I went to burn it, it would keep crashing [cheaper disks brought by the wife!!!] although it seems the dvd drive in one of my laptops is an optiarc AD-7561AS ATA which doesn't burn DVD-Rom, and has no upgradable firmware that I could find, and it wouldn't let me change it in the advance settings.......so I decided to have a go on my 2 month old Toshiba c875-150 [never used the drive until now] and it supports dvd-rom, but was failing to read any of the discs, so i ran a windows download thing that seemed to fix the drive, however when the burn process was about to start al I could here was the disc spinning up and stopping and juttering, this went on for about 10 minutes with the burn process not even making it to 1%, so I gave up. The drive is reading dvd's and cd's no problems at all...just doesn't want to burn. Whether it is the discs she brought or the drive I am not sure, have ordered some verbatim online to test!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 2/3 of day wasted lol
  13. Hi there, I have downloaded the latest version of my cars satnav software, and the instructions say to extract and burn with ImgBurn...well to be precise-- "- Burn on Verbatim DVD+R 8,5 Double Layer with ImgBurn (1x or slowest)! - If you try other programs - set BookType "DVD-ROM" if available! - HF" when I have extracted the files I get this-- I mounted the .iso in a virtual drive, so I could see the files [below] and also to right click on the drive to see if there was an "autoplay" option, indicating that it was a bootable disk....which there wasn't If i double click the .mds file it opens up ImgBurn, If I was to just burn that, would it be a bootable dvdrom? If it wouldn't and if there isn't a boot image, how do i create one? and also how would I go about burning it? would I just add the boot image and the .iso in normal write mode or do I still use the .mds file and then add the boot image? Or am I way off the mark here lol Any help really appreciated Thanks
