  1. thank you for replying lightning okay i'll give your suggestions a try i don't understand how the processes of data being written to disc and being verified are seemingly seperated from one another using the same drive, one is successful while the other fails this is driving me mad i didn't expect this to be drawn out to the length that it has thank you for your help
  2. a matter of fact can this be referred to the guy that runs this forum, i'd like the log studied again and would prefer a more straightforward answer this kind of problem should not warrant such a demanding fix
  3. took a look at this exchange just now, there's no proper solution listed anywhere, lots of could be's, maybe, maybe not all i want to do is burn a few iso's to dvd's and make them bootable for backup and repair purposes, good grief
  4. dbminter thank you for replying again thank you for your suggestions, i'll switch the cmc's to ritek's per your observation with liteon drives writing to them correctly, maybe that will solve my problem thank you again
  5. anyone for the win, lightning uk! calling you out
  6. well isn't that convenient! selling crap in pretty packages, that's just out right rude! so basically the reputation of cmc is they are unusable? i took a look at the log just now and noticed imgburn made an adjustment in the drive's write speed to accomodate a more successful burn, i don't know if an additional adjustment would make any difference, guess i'd have to find out myself but is there a recommend write speed for cmc discs so that they can be verified for imgburn or any other burning service, i've tried to burn the same iso in windows using the same discs but later i found out that windows doesn't support burning iso's? that's crap! i've got to investigate this drive, it's a lite-on dh16ayh y14, i've update the firmware, tried updating the drivers and the controllers as was suggested by a troubleshooter i found online, i think windows is lying to me when it says drivers are current (after nearly 10 years no driver updates?), everything i've come across and still no dice i don't know what i'm doing and it's pissing me off, i'm throwing this tower and monitor in a lake somewhere
  7. dbminter thank you for replying no this is the first time using these discs, first time using the drive to burn, first time burning anything! i wasn't knowledgeable about the difference in recording media until first visiting this site and checking the faq before using imgburn, blew my mind is there a way to check for a media id somewhere on the packaging of cd-r's, dvd-r's so i know what i'm buying? i'll be taking these discs back to switch them out
  8. i'm almost certain i know what the problem is, i'm ripping the thing out of the tower if i'm right here's the log anyway maybe i'm wrong, i've cut away the whole thing up to the point where the error begins, its the same throughout the verify ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 - Log ; Sunday, 28 September 2014, 00:37:53 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 00:05:25 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started!
