Probably a stupid question, but can a blu-ray burner do both normal dvds and blu-rays or only blu-ray?

The burner is several years old, so thats most likely the problem A lifespan of 6-12 months seems very little. Is there any burners you can recommend that'd last longer?

Dont have the log anymore, no But i could prolly reproduce it. Its an internal and the problem could be power reset as i've gotten that message in ultraISO aswell. Is there something wrong with the wiring, because my pc isnt turning of randomly during burning?
