  1. Thanks for that further help, but I'm suspecting -- but I don't know if this can be technically right -- that the original file was formatted for NTSC and my machine (being in the UK) will play only PAL, but maybe these formats apply only to television and have nothing to do with mp4 and DVD formats. The problem with the Any Video Converter Professional and Premier Elements 11 is that when I tried to save to the PAL format, naturally it distorted the ratio, so I stuck to NTSC. But possibly this is only confusing the issue. My understanding is that both the softwares I mentioned (AVC pro and PE11) did convert to a DVD format before burning, so I assumed that what went onto the DVD disk wasn't mp4. But it's past midnight here in the UK and I'll have to leave this til tomorrow. Thanks again. (I did make a second copy, this time making an ISO first, again perfect on the computer, but not tried on the DVD / BluRay player yet.)
  2. Thank you. Before I downloaded your ImgBurn (which I found recommended by someone's guide video) I had tried Any Video Converter which I've used for years professional but it totally distorted the frame proportions (faces looked equine). I then tried Adobe Premier Elements 11 which I use when shooting videos, but that insisted on changing the proportions too. ImgBurn to my delight copied the thing perfectly, but from the original MP4 file. I'll try your suggestion and see. If it works this time, I promise to donate!
