Ok, so my problem is most probably that the drive needs to be cleaned or replaced? Today the drive wont pick up the empty DVD's anymore but it still reads copied DVD's first time Yesterday it was reading the empty DVD's. I will try use a Drive cleaning disc and see if that helps

Yes it is a PATA drive. My current PC only has SATA so I salvaged an old pentium 4 to put my DVD drive in to use it to copy discs. So the drive is picking up the Empty disc using Imgburn but only after I eject and close eject and close a few times. A few other error's have occured unfortunately. -I cant change the bookdrive for LG (I don't think my drive supports that function) -When I start the copy, ImgBurn tells me i need to format the DVD, when I click yes the format gets stuck at 0% and gives me an I/O error. (I have found a fix online and will try it later) Hopefully these are the last problems I will face

Hi I have actually solved the issue. I downgraded the firmware to A104 and then I found an article on updating firmware. It says that the drive must be the only drive attached to the IDE cable and that the drive must be set to Master when updating the firmware. I updated to firmware back to the latest A106 and now it is working. It seems like I overlooked that issue. Thanks a lot for your help

They seem to be exactly the same. Log file below Other DVD drives are picking up the Disc. I can copy to the disk using nero with another drive. So I am assuming the issue is with the Drive and not the disc. Hi there Yes the drive used to copy these exact discs a few years ago It can see all DVD's. Imgburn even detects an already copied Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL 8.5GB. But as soon as I insert a blank it gives me that error

Hi There Iv recently plugged in my old LG GSA-4081B(8X Super multi DVD Writer) which I used to use to copy dual layer DVD's. Im getting an error "Device Not Ready (ASC: 0x28, ASCQ: 0x81)" and then directly afterwards "Device Not Ready (Logic Unit not ready, Cause not reportable)". It does not read that there is a disk in the drive. I have tried CD's and it works fine. I update my firmware to the latest available and tried different firmware versions but i keep getting the same error. I am using Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL 8.5GB so the DVD quality is not the problem. I am using windows XP SP3 Im not sure if this is necessary but I have added my log file below I looked through the forums and found a few similar problems but all the solutions said to use Verbatim discs which i have.
