yes, directly to disc. the ones with the pioneer -- i was testing using a ISO file. Not sure why you're saying that the logs posted were for the MKM-001 -- the last was for the Ritek. I am trying to remove the previous log file so the one in the folder is always the latest.

well, it's not only open but changed since written. Understand about the Ritek. It's what i had. I will have to order new. First one I did that worked was a Verbatim, I think -- at the 2.4x speed. I have not bought DVDs for quite a while.

My "8x" were RITEK-S04-66. And I never learn from mistakes. Had one of the files open so -- can't verify, I suspect. Duh.

I think I have some 8X discs. I'll try. plus still have to test out the Blu Ray

Decided to test a DVD+R DL with the ASUS drive. Was successful. See attached log. Ignore first times as I kept opening one of the files which would certainly fail verify. ImgBurn_DL.log

So the Pioneer drive is on its way back to Amazon. Do you have any opinion on the WH16NS40 vs the WH16NS40k? I can't find the WH16NS40 vs the WH16NS60 anywhere i feel comfortable from ordering from (yet) I burn so seldomly. It seems like the Pioneer and my old original Toshiba/Samsung drive burned properly but wouldn't verify.

As far as I can tell, the "driver" for the DVD/CD/x writers are Windows version from 2006. One of my software cleaners updated it to 2013. I downloaded some "driver updater" software -- it did not find any newer suggested Driver software (i.e. from Device Manager, etc) Pagosa Springs is on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, about 25/30 miles from the New Mexico border. Arvada and Westminster are much closer to Denver, what we call the "front range". Thanks for your answer.

In looking at buying a new DVD writer off Amazon, I keep seeing that they support Windows 8, 7, XP but don't mention Windows 10. How important is that? Will they usually work on Windows 10? Of course, I notice that ImgBurn thinks my Windows 10 OS is Windows 8.

So is the NS40 a decent drive? Yes, we use Amazon because of their return policies and that we have a UPS store quite locally. (I almost asked you what burner software you use but .... LOL)😄

WH16NS60 does not appear to be currently available on places I can return it easily. WH16NS40 seems to be available and someone flashed the WH16NS60 firmware into the WH16NS40. I live in a very rural area. Do not have readily available electronics store (ref: Walmart.....ugh)

I would hate to give up on ImgBurn but maybe buying another new drive will help. I don't know

That is what I downloaded and installed: 1.02 as shown in my name of the firmware above.

Should have noted that I have updated the firmware that I found on a website. BDR-212V_FW102EU.exe Looking on the firmware updates from IMGBURN did not find one. I have another possible firmware. But have not put that in yet. Yes, I can return this one and get another. But would be nicer to figure out the problem.

Replaced my original DVD drive with this (was having problems -- could burn a DVD but then it wouldn't verify -- could not see a dvd in drive when starting to verify). Now have tried several in the new drive. Blu-ray, DVD-R, DVD - double layer. All of them are getting the following error on verify. Have tried to find better drivers, but failing. Tried uninstalling the drive and let Windows (10) find one. This one is from 2006. Here is my typical log. Did not realize imgburn.log appends. so here is two from today.
