put vista on pc and changed location of file to burn

burned 2 dl dvds and both burned with success no errors

Have you already tried those drives in another PC?

Get confirmation that they work in another machine using the exact same media and then take it from there.

tried it today in another machine and it works fine

i had a pioneer 111 worked fine for a couple of years then out of the blue started getting L-EC Uncorrectable Error and invalid write address

so got a pioneer 112 same happened so exchanged it same happened again so got the pioneer 115 and errors again

so it carnt be the pioneers

any ideas?

a clean install of xp sp2 is always a good idea, but you have to remember to only load the drivers needed from device manager

sound and lan are fine from the old cd, or the web?

Anything else may be a headache

My mobo(same as yours) and bios were real picky about the ram settings and I had to set them to match the spd manually to get the computer to run stabily, once I got it working, it ran overclocked and fine for 2 years without hardly a glitch.

You haven't worn that pioneer 112 out already have you?

only burned 3 dl disks from new that worked then after that stopped working with all dl media

works fine with normal dvds eg films

when burning dvds r they meant to get fairly warm

rolled drivers back still no joy normal dvds fine duel layer dvd wont burn

may have to get a new burner or format harddrive and reinstall windows any suggestions?

is vista any different or should i stick to xp ?

Asus A8V Deluxe

is my motherboard and both my ide dvd burners are on seperate cables as master from the motherboard

using the standard ms xp sp2 driver

before i loaded the ide drivers from asus disk in device manager the ide controller had 3 primary controllers 3 secondary controllers and 2 parallel controllers when i deleted them and rebooted they all came back

where do i get the standard ms xp sp2 driver from

on the dma 4 there is a box ticked saying let bios select transfer mode is that ok

I'd try 4x, failing that, clean the drive and try again. Failing that consider the drive faulty and get yourself a replacement / buy a new one.

tried the above with no joy get this error

i have 2 drives pioneer 111 and 112

the problem started with the 111 so i got the 112 was fine for about 3 burns then same problem happened

so i took the 112 back to shop exchanged it and a couple of burns later same problem again

whats a good drive to get besides pioneer 112
