2.5.0 Hangs at "Set L0 Data Zone Capacity"

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate I've been having this issue. When I go to burn a DL ISO imgburn will hang while attempting to set the l0 data zone. It doesn't fail, it just sits there not doing anything. I'll try to abort and it wont work, the only thing I can do is reboot. At which time I attempt the burn again and it works just fine. It does this with every single disc and ISO I've thrown at it since Win7. Worked just fine in Vista. Once the disc's burn they work just fine. Never had a burn fail or a disc not work. Rather annoying, hoping someone has either seen this and found a fix, or the Dev's can find a way to address the issue.

There is nothing in the logs of interest.

Burner: Pioneer DVR-111D

OS: Win7 64-bit Ultimate RTM

This is not my issue.

Do you have any explanation as to what might be going on as to cause this? Or is this how you typically handle bug reports.

Here's a log from right now and a fresh disc:

Until I get a decent amount of info, yes that's how I handle most requests for support. Proper program bugs tend to happen for everyone - as that's not the case with this issue, it's safe to assume it's not a program bug and hence doesn't belong in the forum you posted it. If you then posted in the 'Support' forum you'd have hopefully read the pink bit at the top of the screen and I would have to then use the chair :chair:

Now that you've provided me with something to go on (i.e. the log), I can start to help.

What controller is your drive connected to?

Optical drives don't like running on controllers that are in 'RAID' mode.

My guess is you got a new machine and hooked up your old ide drive to the jmicron controller - why didn't you invest in a new SATA drive at the same time?!

IDE ports died a long time ago, hell Intel haven't had one on their chipset for about the last 3 or 4 models.

If you want to use the jmicron one anyway, make sure you have the latest version of their drivers installed. Now you might be asking for additional trouble by using such a new OS - where very few drivers will really be ready for it.

  • 4 weeks later...

Completely forgot to check this thread again.

Optical drive is NOT in raid mode.

Motherboard is NOT new, this worked just fine in Vista before I upgraded to Win7.

Upgraded drivers for Win7 do NOT stop this behavior from happening. However it is a Jmicron chip.

The DVD drive is 2 years old. I'd happily switch to a SATA drive if you happen to know of one that automatically bitsets all discs to DVD-ROM like the DVR-111D.

It is in RAID mode, or at least it is so far as your OS is concerned.

The updated drivers from that JMicron FTP has fixed numerous issues for people. I don't know why your setup would be 'special'.

Loads of drives support bitsetting now. Samsungs, LGs, Optiarcs, Pioneers, LiteOns... take your pick!
