I've just completed my first double layer copy. It won't play on my Yamaha DV-S5750 player. The DVD works fine on my computer. The player reports that there is no disc. The single layer DVD's work fine in the player. I have a Plextor PX-880SA drive.

 

Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

Have you tried playing it in a different player other the the above mentioned? Maybe at a friends house, relative, neighbor, co-worker...etc.??

Please post the log of that burn (look in ImgBurn's Help menu).

The disc wasn't booktyped to DVD-ROM and that could be one of the reasons it doesn't work on your player. Next time you're burning DVD+R DL media try the Lite On tab of the Change Book Type dialog to see if you're able to booktype DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM. Also try burning at 6x or 4x to see if you get a better quality burn.

 

The other thing you could try is using Verbatim blanks.

It worked perfectly. Ritek is one of the Plextor recommended media types. So I bought it. The first burn was fine, it just couldn't be read by the Yamaha player. I use Verbatim for single layer. Do I need to reset the booktype for single layer media?
