Destination Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-S04-66)

Honestly? Ritek media is crap. It's been crap for the last 5 years. Help yourself by buying some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media. There's an old saying that goes, "You can't make strawberry jam from pigshit". That pretty much sums up Ritek disks. You won't get a quality burn using Ritek media.

Verbatim discs are only £11 for 10 here so you're being ripped off if you have to pay $30.

Shop online, I'm sure you'll find them much cheaper - i.e. half that price if not less.

Basically though, what it comes down to is a bad drive/firmware/media combo.

If you aren't willing to change the media (for money reasons), buy a drive that's been tried and tested on the media you currently own.

I'm sure some of the reviews/drive testing threads over at the cdfreaks forum will help you find one that works (nicely) with the RITEK-S04-66 dye.

I see you're in the States. If Verbs cost that much wherever you're located you need to shop online to buy them. If you calculate the cost of the failed discs into the total cost of purchase you're going to be paying more for your crappy Riteks than you are for the best available DL disc.

I buy mine from here:
