ied to burn D9 or first time got this result, burn again with Vebatim again did not finish burn, could not find log for the Verbatim.

Your drive is old, use Verbatim MKM-001-00 2.4x discs or buy a new drive.

I just got thr drive yersterday from Newegg.

 

My mistake, was referring to the reader, the burner is a Benq, that has been burning quite well on all other burns, different on a D9?

Technically, burning a dual-layer disc is much more difficult than burning a single-layer disc, and this is where an up-to-date firmware comes into play: since your drive is old and firmware support for it was dropped long ago, it doesn't support the newer blanks you have. It does, however, support the Verbatim 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) DVD+R DL blanks because they've been around since forever, and by that I mean ever since dual-layer burning was available :)

 

So you can either try the jurassic Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL blanks or you'll need to buy a new burner in order to use the blanks you have.

Lite-Ons are nice for scannings, but I can't say I like them for regular DVD +R burning.

 

Perhaps keep the current one for scanning purpose and get one for pure burning tasks.

Cynthia could you recommend a good burner, perhaps one that also scans?

I have the AD-7200A model of your burner and my feeling is that this drive likes faster speeds than 4x with non Verbatim DL media.

 

The burns at 4x usually gives me either failed verifies or the crappiest burns compared to 6x or 8x.

 

Edit: With Verbatims the 4x is the best speed.

Cynthia, Thanks for the reply, turned it up to 8X, failed again, tried a newer burner, Lite-on DH-16A6L @ 8x, worked.

The Verbatims I have are 2.4X, still burn at 4X? T.I.A.

P.S. I don't know if it makes a difference but the Optiarc is burning in an exterior enclosure, whereas the Lite-On is in the computer.
