Judge: Man Too Short For Prison

SIDNEY, Neb. - A judge said a 5-foot-1 man convicted of sexually assaulting a child was too small to survive in prison, and gave him 10 years of probation instead.

His crimes deserved a long sentence, District Judge Kristine Cecava said, but she worried that Richard W. Thompson, 50, would be especially imperiled by prison dangers.

"You are a sex offender, and you did it to a child," she said.

But, she said, "That doesn't make you a hunter. You do not fit in that category."

Thompson will be electronically monitored the first four months of his probation, and he was told to never be alone with someone under age 18 or date or live with a woman whose children were under 18. Cecava also ordered Thompson to get rid of his pornography.

He faces 30 days of jail each year of his probation unless he follows its conditions closely.

"I want control of you until I know you have integrated change into your life," the judge told Thompson. "I truly hope that my bet on you being OK out in society is not misplaced."

You obviously didn't see the story about the cat being put on trial? I thought it was for murder :) but turned out it was just the cat's owner going to trial instead of euthanizing the cat outright. In essence, the cat is going on trial for attacking the neighbors.

That's bizarre since cats are considered, in almost every jurisdiction, to be be wild animals. Therefore, unlike dogs, owners can't normally be held responsible for things their cats do.

Maybe they should build a prison for short people. Fcuk me, whats next?

You wanna know what's next? Civil rights for pedophiles. That's what's coming.

I have nothing against homosexuals but the laws that have been written protecting "sexual orientation" have been written so broadly they can easily be interpreted as covering pedophiles and rapists.

Some pedophiles and rapists are already making this claim. It's only a matter of time before some idiot ass judge in California or Vermont, or one of our other looney bins loosely designated as "states", hands down a ruling calling child molesting and serial rape "disabilities." Or flat out says they're being "persecuted" because of their "sexual orientation."

The laws should have been written: "Their shalt be no harassing consenting adults in sexual matters." That would have been a much better way of writing it.

The way they're written now, it's just a matter of time before this shit happens. Mark my words.

Here's one of two links (Lost the other.) I've found on the story.

All I have to say is that this would be one dead goddamn cat. He'd get one shot at me and then I break his goddamn neck and not even feel bad about it.

Besides that, "victims" don't control the decisions of prosecutors. DAs have absolute discretion whether to press charges. Only a state's Attorney General has rank over a DA.

All cats should be shot in my opinion - fucking useless things that they are..... :swear:

I like cats actually...except for the litter boxes, the hairballs, the scratching shit, the hair...because of Mrs. PM's allergies cats are out. I find I don't miss them.

We've got our rats and they're just fine. One of them even runs about the house. She follows us about and comes when we call her--which gives her one up on friggin' cats.

Yeah, my dogs love em, every household with a dog should have a cat, it's good exercize for the dogs. :whistling:

I'll second that one! One of our dogs gets some good exercise, with the cat chasing the dog! Cats are useful as bed warmers in the cooler weather too! Unfortuantely there are negatives, such as the litter trays, scratches, feeding them, etc. :)

rgds,

Peter
