Write Speed Miscompare! - MODE SENSE:

tophawk

Recommended Posts

This is a follow up to a post yesterday which I thought I had solved

However, now I use an 8 speed DVD-R Ritek GO5 I still get the error in the log

The 4 speed RW was sensed correctly

Again, ImgBurn does the job as usual, but I just wondered about the error log?

Thanks

The entry here (below) has absolutely no effect on performance

I just wondered if I was doing something wrong?

It only appeared when I installed a new writer having only ever used Pioneer before

The write speed still comes out at around 8x (using Ritek GO5 8 speed flavour)

OK but that will be next week, probably

I am burning RWs at the moment

MODE SENSE: 11,080 KB/s (8x), GET PERFORMANCE: 8,310 KB/s (6x)

What I don't understand is the GET PERFORMANCE set at 6x then still burns at 8x

No complaints, obviously - just a knowledge thing

Cheers

There are 2 ways to query a drive for it's current write speed, once is via the 'Mode Sense' command and the other via the 'Get Performance' command.

Typically, 'Get Performance' should be the one used for DVD/BD.

Your drive is returning conflicting speed values for the two commands and the program is simply making you aware of it.
