blutach Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 Gunna find more compatible disks first, I think. But the disks are just peachy, as far as Windows is concerned. Take yer Robitussin. Regards
spinningwheel Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Is it real...or is it Memorex??? No...It's CMC...
blutach Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 It was bloody $ONY. I knew they'd get their revenge on us somehow!!! A$18 a disk. Sorry I bought the fookin cam for Firey. Regards
lfcrule1972 Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Take yer Robitussin. Regards I have thanks.....
blutach Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 @chewy - no, and I don't want to as DVD-RAM can not produce compliant DVD-VIDEO. It produces VRO files, as you know. Regards
chewy Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 reading the hitachi faq's it's seems to be the best solution with the right software and hardware
blutach Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 Well, unfortunately it doesn't suit what I want it for And I am pretty sure this is now a compatibilty issue. Can't be 100% sure, but that's what it seems to be. Regards
chewy Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 (edited) dvd camcorders seems mighty picky about brands of disks kind of a propriitary system? the sony disks probably work great in the sony cams Edited August 1, 2006 by chewy
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Well, unfortunately it doesn't suit what I want it for And I am pretty sure this is now a compatibilty issue. Can't be 100% sure, but that's what it seems to be. Regards No chance of swapping it for one with a HD?
blutach Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 @Shamus - probably, but it's really for Firey just to take a few home movies - you know, pointing the lens at the mirrored ceiling @Chewy - I think yer right, and yes, they could do with a firmware flash, couldn't they? The Maxell -Rs that were supplied with the cam perform flawlessly. Maybe we'll get them instead. IIRC, Hitachi was part of the -R consortium and probably prefer them. I just was real attracted to the auto-finalisation feature, which works well in 1 out of 4 sides Regards
polopony Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 candid photography, nudge ,nudge ,wink, wink say no more say no more on a serious side does the camera manufacturer reccommend any particular "brand"
blutach Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 Couldn't see that it did polo (except Maxell by implication - 5 30 min -Rs were supplied with the cam). Just have to try and see, I guess. Regards
lfcrule1972 Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Perhaps you have simply shagged the Camcorder filming all your marathon sessions ??
blutach Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 LFC - I may be warped, but the only bloke around here that shags camcorders is you!!! I actually prefer to shag women!!! :D Regards
chewy Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 you need one ram disk that can only be played in the computer, unless you have a panni standalone? saw where they took software to transfer from ram to R
blutach Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 @Chewy, That would require a format conversion. An +RW finalised is in straight DVD-VIDEO form that can be played on any player - that's why we like it. None of our players have the ability to play VROs. Regards
blutach Posted August 8, 2006 Author Posted August 8, 2006 OK update - Problem solved. The cam works brilliantly with -RW disks. Shame, I really wanted +RWs. Shoulda bought a $ONY, I guess. Thanks for everyone's input and help. Regards
