Hi and good afternoon one and all, if this is placed in the wrong category on thread I am sorry, however my Q is a simple one, I am looking into purchasing a new DVD-RW to replace a PATA HP Drive.

I will use the drive to burn a multitude of formats mainly ISO files ie XBOX360 Backps, ISO again mainly on Verbatim for the XBOX and cheaper to burn PC File Backups, using ofcourse IMGBurn.

My dilemma is that there is so many to choose from LG, ASUS, LiteOn, HP, Sony, Optriac, Pioneer.

Which one do I go for?

Many thanks in advance for any info, help and assistance.

PS - Needs to be a SATA.

I'd get an Optiarc AD-7240S (older model) or an Optiarc AD-7260S (newer model). The latest model seems to be AD-7280S but there aren't many opinions about it.

I have used the 7260 for a few months now. No problems with it. Past Optiarc had Verfiy issues with Ritek DVD+RW 8x discs, but, not the 7260.

As for XBox backups, I'm afraid we can't help with things like that. I certainly can't say if the 7260 would work for that as I don't have an XBox.
