Hello Everyone,

This is my first post, but I did do my homework and read the FAQ, read the guides, and read the similar topics in the Support forum.

However, I am stumped! I'm burning a simple .img file to a DVD+R, and it won't play in my DVD player, although 4 different computers like it just fine.

I'm using a NEC 2510A and have updated the firmware to 2.18 (most recent). I am using Imation DVD+R 8x disks. The player in question HAS played these same disks burned with this same player before.

I have ImgBurn 2.0.0.0 (and was a previous user or DVD Decrypter).

Changed speed from MAX to 8x. No joy.

Changed speed from 8x to 6x. No joy.

Changed speed from 6x to 4x. No joy.

My info...

Your player might not like those discs.

It might like them slightly better if you could booktype them to DVDROM rather than leaving them on DVD+R.

Can't remember if the NEC 2510 actually supports that though.

It has liked the disks in the past, although since everything breaks down I assume it might like them less as it gets older and the laser gets weaker?

When I try to hit the "change" button to set the booktype, I get an error message. It's not very detailed, just a basic "FAILED" if I remember correctly. I assume that means that the burner doesn't support booktyping them to DVDROM?

Thank you for your help.

dont believe that the NEC drive supports that option

Thank you all again for your help.

From what I can tell, the NEC drive "almost" supports it, but has an error at the last moment.

Changing the tab to RICOH doesn't seem to work...everything stays greyed out.

I will check to see if the disks play better in a more modern player. Given how much sales are these days, a new player may be cheaper than a new burner. We'll see.

However, in keeping options open, would you be kind enough to either recommend another cost-effect DL burner that DOES support this feature, or simply pointing me to a thread where this discussion has already taken place?

Thank you again. You have been most helpful and kind.
