I recently purchased a Blu Ray d/l writer. I burned a 25 gb movie no problem, however when I first tried to burn a d/l movie, initially IMGBurn would not even start burning and kicked out "the semaphore timeout period has expired"

I then tried a different d/l movie, which appeared to burn correctly all the way to the end and then gave me the same error message.

Log is as follows, please help as I can this costing me a fortune!

Semaphore timeout errors usually are due to incompatibility between your system's USB chipset and the external drive's/enclosure's USB chipset.

If you search this forum you'll find some things you could try in order to fix it, like using another USB cable, making sure Windows has all the updates and your system's drivers are all the latest version, and others.

Any way you could connect that drive internally to the computer? Or maybe using eSATA / Firewire / other interface?

Thanks, I have looked at a few of the other threads regarding this issue. I am using a laptop and the blu ray burner is a slimline external writer so don't think I connect internally?

Anyway, I am reading posts stating these aren't the best writers for burning d/l especially as there appears to be no problem burning using a 25gb disk.

I will try the above but will try to burn using my son's far superior desktop and hopefully this will fix the problem.
