Walt Gray Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I have a music file with several songs and associated titles created with Audacity. Is there a way to use ImgBurn to burn these songs along with their titles to a CD? No problem burning the songs to a CD, but how can I also get the titles on the CD so that they are recognized by a CD player?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 You'd need to add the CD-TEXT info and use a player that reads CD-TEXT.
Walt Gray Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 How do I add CD-TEST info? I see nothing about that in the help menu or in the tool bars.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Look at the Audio CD guide in the Guides forum.
Walt Gray Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 I guess I need some more help. I got all the tracks (songs) listed. Then I clicked on each one and clicked on file name beside CD-TEXT. The "file name" was the name of the song in each case. I did nothing with Default CD-TEXT (disc/track) below. Then I saved as a Cue file and finally burned the Cue file. Songs played fine in the CD player, but no song titles were portrayed. What am I missing?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Could you attach the CUE file you created please? Or open it in notepad and copy+paste everything. Obviously the player needs to support the reading of CD-TEXT in the first place or it won't display anything.
Walt Gray Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 I also sent the Cue file via direct email. Hope one of these works.Easy Listening Cue 2.cue
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 That's got the CD-TEXT info in it, so it'll be on the disc. Playback (it being visible somewhere) is down to your player I'm afraid.
Walt Gray Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Any idea why my CD player recognizes the song titles on a commercial CD but not on the CD that I prepared as you showed me how?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Not without seeing a log file. Any chance you could post one from where you burnt that CD?
Walt Gray Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 I copied the log file. Is this what you want? LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 It's saying.... I 10:40:00 Writing LeadIn... (CD-TEXT) ... so the CD-TEXT info has been written to the disc. If you switch the program into Read mode, click the 'View Media Information' button down the bottom right of the 'Source' box. It should read the CD-TEXT info on the disc and display the track names in the box that pops up.
Walt Gray Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 OK. But this doesn't help me with the CD player in my car, which is where I'm wanting the song titles to be displayed. As I said, song titles are displayed in my car for a commercial CD. Why not with the one I've prepared here?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I'm just checking it was written to the disc ok and that ImgBurn can at least read it. Sorry, I have no idea why your car CD player can't read it.
Walt Gray Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Sorry. I hadn't actually tried switching the ImgBurn program to read mode, like you suggested, before I sent my last post. Here's what I see when I do: Under the "Track" column, just the track numbers are listed. Under the "Start" column, some times are listed as well as the song title. Is that where you would expect to see the song title?
Walt Gray Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 So, tell me, would you expect the song titles to be listed under the "Start" column rather than under the "Track" column?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 That's purely a cosmetic design decision within the program. If the cdtext info is listed, it's present on the disc.
Walt Gray Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 Because my car CD player displays song titles for commercial CDs, I just keep thinking there must be some way to get the titles on CDs I make and have them displayed. I've tried different options with ImgBurn but so far have found nothing that works. I've used Magix Audio Cleaning Lab in the past to import and edit music. That program can also be used to burn audio CDs. But, I don't currently have it installed on my computer. I guess I'm tempted to purchase the latest version & see if that will solve my problem.
hollywood Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 When you are in Imgburn, and go to Mode, then Write, there is an icon in about the center of the window that is "Create Cue File". Are you using this feature? When you import the music tracks on this screen, you can type in the song info (if it didn't already import it), and just above the OK/CANCEL are 2 buttons with more options. You can then press OK to Queue the job up to burn in Imgburn. If you haven't been playing with the "Create Cue File" screen, try it. I stumbled many times too, but that's what I use now and my CD text properly shows in my car.
Walt Gray Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Yes, after Mode and Write, I have selected "Creat Cue File". At that point, I have imported the songs I want to burn to the CD. Then there are 4 options to the right of CD-TEXT: "None", "File Name", "Tag", and "Custom". I have tried all of these except "None". In each case, I have made sure that the title of each of the songs was present in the Title box below. Finally, in the 2 boxes above OK and Cancel, there is the option to select "None", "Tag", or "Custom" for both the Disc/Track. I have tried them all. But, I have only tried the same label for both Disc and Track, e.g. "Custom" for both boxes. I have not tried combinations such as "Tag" for Disc and "Custom" for Track. So, unless you can think of something else I should try, I've about concluded that ImgBurn is not going to accomplish what I want. Like I said, I've about decided to give Magix Audio Cleaning Lab a try even though I'll have to purchase a new version (the old version I have won't work with my new computer). I've used this program in the past to edit music but have not tried to include song titles that will be displayed by my car's CD player.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 As is hasn't just worked, I'd assume your player either just doesn't read CD-TEXT from CD-R/CD-RW discs or it's ultra fussy about the formatting of it and maybe ImgBurn isn't doing it exactly how it wants it. If you've got a CD where it shows up, read it to an image using ImgBurn and then burn it to another disc. See if the CD-TEXT info is then visible on the copy.
Walt Gray Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 OK. I did that. Song titles were displayed with the new disc using my car's CD player. How do I learn from this how to get song titles displayed on a disc made from "scratch"?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Can you email me the cue file and cdt file for the disc you read to an image please? Also, the log from where you read the disc to an image file - you can just copy + paste that. Thanks.
Walt Gray Posted May 28, 2013 Author Posted May 28, 2013 Not sure. Is this the log? I attempted to email the cue and cdt files to you. Let me know if you got what you want.
