JollyRoger
Every time I insert a blank DVD, I get the same message: "device not ready (medium not present - tray closed)" I've tried Memorex and Sony DVD-R's and DVD-RW's. What am I missing here?
blutach
Sounds like the drive doesn't like the media. Get some decent stuff like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden and update your firmware - see link in my signature. Regards
cornholio7
or maybe your drive only reads +R discs or you have a combo drive, a log would be good, could you post one please?
JollyRoger
or maybe your drive only reads +R discs or you have a combo drive, a log would be good, could you post one please? Thanks for the suggestions. Here's the log: I 09:29:15 ImgBurn Version 2.1.0.0 started! I 09:29:15 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) I 09:29:16 Initialising SPTI... I 09:29:16 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 09:29:16 Found 1 DVD-ROM/CD-RW! I have some recorded movies on the same Sony DVD-R's that play fine in the drive. So maybe it is the firmware? I'm also gonna grab some Verbatims and Taiyos and see if that helps. I have no experience updating firmware so I need to do some research on that first...
