dbminter Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 For anyone who is a glutton for punishment, the final build of Internet Explorer 7 is apparently available. But not from WindowsUpdate just yet. It must be downloaded from Microsoft's IE site.
lfcrule1972 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Nah thanks - I will stick with Firefox....
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Well I like IE 7 so I'm happy to hear the 'final' has been released
blutach Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I care, too. But there is an issue with their fonts sometimes. Might be the CSSheets which need updating. Regards
lfcrule1972 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I use IE6 at work and did at home until it got fooked up and kept closing itself all the time. Since then I have used Firefox without any issues so don't feel the need to change.
dbminter Posted October 19, 2006 Author Posted October 19, 2006 The way I see it, it's not going to matter. You're going to HAVE to install it at one point because Big Brother Bill wants you to and will make sure something happens to make you. Oh, and, how convenient, that Microsoft's little every 2 weeks e-mail thing just happens to come out and just happens to state, out of the gate, that IE 7 is out.
random Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I am glad IE 7 is out. I run an ajax comment system on two of my sites that will only function with FF or the IE7 browser. It has something to do with the way the browser handles XMLHttpRequest. Opera will not work nor will IE 6, FF has never had problems, the IE 7 Beta worked so I was glad when they updated to the final release.
JasonFriday13 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 No need to change. Don't have the internet at home. The IE6 that came with windows is enough. Haven't tried Firefox yet, but have seen it in action.
jack Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Internet Explorer 7 is apparently "out" You know there was always something that made me think it was gay, I just never thought it would come out of the closet so soon. I'm sticking to Opera, best by far.
dontasciime Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Opera is Gay, all those fancy costumes and makeup
random Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I recently downloaded Opera, I used it years ago when it was version 6 or 7 I am more impressed with the recent build, however it does not handle ajax well.

Ajax? I think you should do youre own cleaning, never mind asking your web browser to do it!!

dbminter Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 And, surely this can't be a coincidence... but, Firefox 2.0 may be "officially" outed tomorrow. It's already available some places like 9down, but may just be Release Candidate 3.
lfcrule1972 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 You know there was always something that made me think it was gay, I just never thought it would come out of the closet so soon. Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha !
dbminter Posted October 24, 2006 Author Posted October 24, 2006 After installing IE 7 (Might as well install it, learn it, figure out the bugs that can't be fixed, iron out the ones that can, BEFORE I am forced to have it installed.) something appeared in the System Tray. Some folder icons with Options and Restore. After selecting one, I forget, it just disappeared. Never to return. So, anyone know what this should have been?
lfcrule1972 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Auto self destruct - your PC will now select a random time scale to implode and destroy itself, your data and your home db !!! Run !!!
dbminter Posted October 24, 2006 Author Posted October 24, 2006 What's this e-mail with the Subject "Stinky Cheese" in Swahili? And... why do I feel this irresistable urge to legally change my name to Reggie? OH, NO! VIRUS ALERT! HIT DELETE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT!
Jill Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Well I like IE 7 so I'm happy to hear the 'final' has been released I've been using it the last couple of days and seems to work fine here
dbminter Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 Wow, strangely enough, they DID release Firefox 2 on the date I had thought they might.
spinningwheel Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 OK I upgraded to IE7, now the internet connection times out after a couple minutes unuse and I get the 'Working offline" thingy when I try to come back to wherever I was on the net. I tell it to retry and it reconnects like nothing happened. I dropped down the tools and work offline is not ticked...I have a cable modem and it's always on... Any ideas? #39;(
lfcrule1972 Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Yeah try Firefox..... Sorry Spinner - I upgraded to IE7 at work on Friday and haven't seen this...
dbminter Posted October 29, 2006 Author Posted October 29, 2006 OK I upgraded to IE7, now the internet connection times out after a couple minutes unuse and I get the 'Working offline" thingy when I try to come back to wherever I was on the net. I tell it to retry and it reconnects like nothing happened. I dropped down the tools and work offline is not ticked...I have a cable modem and it's always on... Any ideas? #39;( Yes... this seems to happen randomly across the system and more often than I am comfortable with. With no apparent reason. I get the same thing a lot with Firefox and other browsers, along with Eudora. My guess is it's related to how high speed connections, e.g. always on, work. They go up and down all the time, and then reconnect themselves. In fact, you're urged by tech support to not turn off the cable modem... however, more often than not, it's the only way to get a real reconnection when they disconnect you. Anyway, my guess is that during these brief outages, the software in question detects it and goes into Offline mode.
