Gandhi_Physique Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 I want to write music tracks to a disc. I have tried this on all supported write speeds to no avail. My disc is still blank after the writing process. The attached screenshot is after writing. dbminter Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Here's your most likely culprit: I 20:35:44 Destination Media Type: CD-R (Disc ID: 97m26s66f, CMC Magnetics Corp.) CMC Magnetics makes the worst quality discs out there. You probably got the Verbatim Life Series in a brick and mortar store. You want the Verbatim DataLife Plus (NOT the Life Series.) or AZO CD-R which you'll only find in online stores, generally. CMC Magnetics is responsible for over 50% of the problems seen on this board and switching away from the junk media generally solves most people's issues. Not always, though.
Gandhi_Physique Posted October 17, 2023 Author Posted October 17, 2023 Oh, okay. Idk how I didn't see the disc info.. I would have looked it up. But yeah, I got it in a brick and mortar store. They were pretty cheap. I just figured standard CDs were all basically the same. I'm not sure if they are Life Series, but they are Verbatim. I read some other issues on this site, the culprit seeming to be Sony CDs. I did manage to get one CD burned, but after that I could never burn another disc properly again. That could be crap quality being the issue, as you mentioned. Anyways, I'll try getting some discs that aren't straight garbage. Thank you.
dbminter Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 That would be my first step. It may not be the cure all that others have found, but it's where I would start.
