Is there any way you can tweak some setting somewhere so you can burn discs and listen to music at the same time? Whenever i go to burn a disc is says the drive is in use or not ready or something but as soon as i close WMP it works. im only listening to music on my HDD so i dont know why WMP is controlling the CD drive. it did this on my old PC and now my new PC as well.

Thanks for any help

ImgBurn likes to have exclusive access to your drive (which is a good thing). As WMP is also a burning program, it stands to reason that there's a conflict if both are running. You can turn off the exclusive access thingy in the ImgBurn settings but it might be a better idea to get an mp3 player that doesn't interfere with your drive. I still use an old version of WinAMP because it's fast, flexible and doesn't cause problems with other software. You can find it here:

Hmm ok it's all good i have another mp3 player but i just much prefer WMP coz of its easy album access. just thought i might be able to tinker with something in WMP so that it didnt want to share access so imgburn can have it all. never mind thanks guys

It's a shame media player does what it does but I guess it has it's reasons.

You'd kind expect it to just keep a handle open to the optical drives when it's actually playing a CD - but that's not the case, it keeps them open even when you're playing MP3's etc.

I assume media player 11 is the same? Anyone tried it?

I never use mp think mine is either 9 or 10, not sure if this will fix the imapi or whatever handle it has, goto options plugin and untick nero fast cd burning.

maybe untick windows cd burning on the drive as well

If that does not work then remove plugin from media player plugin options

goto copy music tab as well and untick copy cd when inserted or whatever it says.

Also goto the devices tab and check properties on the dvdrw untick cd recording which is what i meant above by Windows cd burning.

One of those surely has to work
