MTSGrim Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I have been trying for hours to burn 13 or so songs onto a CD. I thought switching to ImgBurn would be my saving grace but even after converting the files to a CUE, it gets through the burn process with no issue until the very end. I have an external disc reader and the tray pops open at the end which I am then prompted that is is normal I must close the tray manually and press OK. After doing so I'm greeted by "Verify Failed!" Reason: Layouts do not match. This project is extremely important to me and have yet to find any success with any burner software. I have tried windows media player, AnyBurn, BurnAware, and finally ImgBurn. I have also tried using a different disc reader to no avail. Some help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
dbminter Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I've got a pretty good idea, but I'll need to see everything from the Log window for this failed burn. A screen grab won't do the trick. Copy and paste everything from the Log window or, if you've already closed ImgBurn, open the Log from Help and copy and paste the entirety of the burn and attempt to Verify that fails.

This is the most important part: I 21:08:21 Destination Media Type: CD-R (Disc ID: 97m26s66f, CMC Magnetics Corp.) You're using Verbatim Life Series CD-R's which are made by CMC Magnetics Corporation. CMC made discs are the absolute bottom of the barrel discs. About half of the issues we've ever seen on this board are caused by CMC discs. I would recommend you try some higher quality discs like the Verbatim DataLife Plus CD-R's. NOT the Life Series ones. Or CMC Pro. Despite the name, CMC Pro discs are made to Taiyo Yuden standards, which made some of the best media out there. Verbatim, too, is also owned by CMC, but the DataLife Plus series are farmed out to Mitsubishi, which are the best quality discs out there.

Read awful things about verbatim today haha. Would Maxell Audio discs be a better option? or should i just go for the datalife plus?
dbminter Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I don't know who makes Maxell's discs. Maxell made some decent DVD-R's, but I had a few that were partially unreadable 20 years after writing. Since I do know who makes Verbatim's DataLife Plus CD-R and I use them all the time, I would go with what I knew and pay the extra for DataLife Plus.
