Defenestration Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 I have it on good authority from Father Christmas that my six and a half year old nephew is getting a PS2 for Christmas, and thought it would be a nice present to get him a driving/racing game. I don't have a lot of experience with games but have played Gran Turismo 2 before. I've narrowed it down to either: - GT3 or GT4. - Need For Speed (not sure which one) - Burnout (again, not sure which one) Any advice would be appreciated ?
Grain Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I loved GT3, GT4 didn't have quite the same appeal, although game play had improved. Didn't like the way you had to progress through the game as much with 4 as 3.
Shamus_McFartfinger Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 GT3. Easily the best racing game on any platform. It might be a bit complicated for a 6 year old though with the abundance of racing categories like FF, MR N/A and so on. (Front wheel drive, Mid-engined, naturally aspirated etc..)

Shamus - Why do you prefer GT3 to GT4 ? Dontasciime is right. The load times are infuriating. Also, it's alot more complicated with menus and submenus everywhere. GT3 is alot easier to play and alot better to play.

Part of me went for GT because that's what I'm familiar with. I had considered (and may still get him) Burnout 3: Takedown due to it's great review at the same site above, and preferential reviews compared to Revenge. Who am I kidding..... I'm getting these games for myself!

I should have given the full name of the game. It is "Need For Speed Most Wanted". This is what that site said about it; "Game: Need for Speed Most Wanted (PS2) Release Date: Nov 25, 2005 Need for Speed Most Wanted is a great racing game that injects new life into the series thanks to its creative use of law enforcement."
