Problem with dual layer dvds and standalone

Hi,

I've got a problem with my dual layer dvds and my dvd-player.

I made an image with dvd shrink and burnt it on a dual layer dvd. It works well in my laptop but at the standalone I came to the starting screen "press this to watch this dvd in german". After pressing it the dvd in the standalone makes a "click" and it stops. :( Firstly I thought it was my fault as I burnt it stupidly with max speed instead of 2,4 like written on the dvd and without a layer break.

Then I made it like it's written in the guide with the files from the video_ts folder, a layer break and the speed of 2,4. The same problem, I get till the starting screen and after pressing play the "click" comes and the player stops.

Any ideas if this is a burning/dvd-problem or a dvd-player problem???

I forgot to write it's a fujifilm DVD +R DL and this information from imgburn:

Verbatim Dual Layer discs are the only DL's that work right and the only ones recommended by IMGburn .

When you post make sure you copy and pasye a log of the burn it has all sorts of info we can use .IMGburn automatically saves the log now you can find by clicking Help , IMGburn logs

DVD Shrink does not make proper dual layer ISO's and shouldn't be used to do it ,use IMGburn in build mode , you can find a how to in the GUIDES forum

you can also booktype the discs if your burner supports doing it ,make them all look like DVD Rom discs for playback compatibility but a log is necessary to see what burner you have

I made the second disk with DVDDecrypter and imgburn. The folder on the harddrive with dvddecrypter and then I built and wrote it with imgburn.

I can't get single verbatim DLs here so I bought fujifilm. If there's nothing wrong in the log I will try to get one of the verbatims!

It looks like you didn't give your drive a chance to verify the disc, does this one play?

If not, get yourself some verb +R DL media, they are the only ones that seem to work right.

No, both disks only come to the first menue and stop after pressing play, although the are recogniced as dvds.

I took the dvd out as the drive opened, I thought the dvd was ready.

ok, I try to get a verbatim and try it again.

I agree about the Verbatims.

My burner is very reliable, and my standalone is very unfussy about playing most discs. But out of all the DLs I've tried, the only ones which worked?properly were the Verbatims.

That probably explains why there's such a shortage of them in the UK!

So, until Ritek or Ricoh get their acts together and produce some reliable DLs, Verbatims are the only way to go at the moment.
