I put a small file on a DVD and want to add another.

I get the "Disk Not Empty" prohibit when I enter Write Mode, and don't know what to do next.

Is it possible I didn't choose the same format for the 2nd file; or something like that?

once you write to a dvd + or - you cant go back and add files later they are write once discs ,you would need a dvd rw and some kind of packet writing software such as Neros InCd to do what you want

Further to polo's comments once the disc is finalised nothing else can be added. I note on my standalone Panasonic DVD recorder that I can record different tv episodes recorded on the disc at different times like an old VHS cassette, but to allow them to be played back I need to finalise the disc....

RAM doesnt have to finalised for playback on the same recorder

I don't know either. I know the DVD forums I frequent treat InCD like the plague and nearly always recommend its removal and I always use Imgburn to format +RW, but the question concerned files. Is that different from DVD?

I know IMGburn doesn't support packet writing or multi session writing ,I dont do anything with RW's other than some test stuff and that was years ago when burners first came out

Yeah the DVD+R's need finalising in the Panasonic DVD recorder volvo and the RAM's don't.
