I have a Panasonic DVD?RW/Ram recorder under the telly (very pleased with it too) and the RAM discs look completely different to normal DVD?R's. They are gold and kinda have square dots on the back of them. Once recorded on they will not playback on the PC BenQ drive as it does not support RAM reading, however my Pioneer DVR-111 does read them just fine. So short answer no I don't believe you can trick the recorder into using other discs altho you might want to Google for a hack to do this. Finally the RAM discs seem to hold up better to constant re-writing than DVD?RW's so in that sense they are worth the money. Your Panasonic seems the dog's dangly bits able to record to all formats - no wonder you're pleased with it - whereas my mate's will only record to Ram disc. volvofl10 Posted April 10, 2007 Share Posted April 10, 2007 what make and model recorder does he have, because the cheaper end of the market ones only wrote to +RW , most RAM recorders were middle to top of the range to top . You cant change a RW to RAM format at all . If your fortunate enough to have a RAM capable drive on your PC, then a good prog to get is tmpgenc dvdauthor, which will allow you to read and convert to normal +/- discs if you want to save/archive your camcorder footage.( my panny only does -rw and RAM) Bought my RAM discs from svp about 3 years ago, and they still perform well now after many many recordings Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks donta...a good tip Also when a new disc is loaded for the first time Imgburn gives a warning that the disc is not empty and do you want to overwrite the disc? Something like that. dontasciime Posted April 14, 2007 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Nvidia seem to say has TV out to SD or HDTV this would depend on the card,s manufacturer as some take off features or even add them to their own specs. If it has TV out and further to that it is HDTV out you will get fantastic output to an LCD tft monitor or TV that has component in at 1280x720 for 720P high def or if it can accept 1920x1080 then you would get 1080p. dontasciime Posted April 14, 2007 Share Posted April 14, 2007 so your system is sort pre-built up from ADLI or LIDL etc. If that is SVHS out then you would need either a TV with SVHS in or you may have been given an adapter that went from SVHS to component out/in on TV i.e Red green and blue even though it goes red blue green. Getting an adapter from SVHS to RGB sounds like a good idea, but I'm now thinking of updating my Dvd Recorder. Something that an external hard drive would plug into would be good. I burned a Dvd to Ram Disc which overwrote the data which was on the disc from new. I suppose it was some kind of packet format data. The film wouldn't playback on my friend's Panasonic Dvd Ram recorder, it just showed Un Formatted on the front screen. So if I burn a Dvd Ram with Imgburn it wont play on my mate's Dvd player, but it did play back on my PC. I'm trying it on another friend's player to see if it works on that. Can Imgburn be made, or are there settings, to write a Dvd to Ram disc without destroying the format info that's already on there? I assume it's ok for burning data... Thanks... From memory I think I used one of the formatted RAM discs (from when I tested them in the Media/Drives forum) to burn a copy of the kids ICE AGE 2 film. That worked fine in our Panasonic DVD player.... I honestly don't remember changing any other settings. I selected an iso, clicked on burn and a msg came up saying I was going to overwrite the information on the disc, or some such, and I clicked ok and burned it. As it worked for you I'll try again.
