corrie
Dear All I have just aquired imgburn 2.3.2.0 and I am attempting to burn VOB files that are in my VIDEO_TS folder ( this is how I always export my video files once they are converted from AVI formats ) I have a DL RW drive which I have cross flashed from a SONY DVD RW DW-23A to a LiteOn SOHW-1653S this was a great success ... my VIDEO_TS Folder has approx 7.2GB of information on it, and the Verbatim discs are 8.56GB DL as stated in the topic title, imgburn says that the disc does not have enough room ?? as the source folder seems to have grown to 16.xxxGB ??? I have already destroyed a few blank media discs and i am afraid that I am not to proud to ask for some help ... I get the prompt to select ISO build ( yet I see no ISO build ) so I just select build ??? but I am getting no where fast. If somebody could just give me a breif step by step guide then I will note it and always use that method if it works for me .... I do not think I will ever use the BIN or ISO functions as I always convert from AVI straight to VOB files ... I wish there was a way imgburn would pick up my created VIDEO_TS Folder and then just burn my files ( I suspect that it does indeed do this but I have not worked it out after long nights of trying. So again please indulge me I need a little help here Cheers

mmalves
Also notice that, even though discs are advertised as 4.7GB and 8.5GB, they're in fact 4.38GB and 7.96GB.
ssjkakaroto
They are infact 4.7GB (4.38GiB) and 8.5GB (7.96GiB). 1 giga = 10^9 1 gibi = 2^30 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_prefix

corrie
I will try this again ( I got just 1 good disc left ) ... now I know the correct procedure, lets just see what imgburn says this source folder contains by way of size ... give me 30mins or so and I will post my results here Ps it is actually 7.82GB sorry I lied
dontasciime
why don't you build the ISO switch the output device in ImgBurn to save ISO rather than write to disc click on output and tick image file rather than device
corrie
Your to late ... I am burning away what is the advantage of doing it the way you suggested ??
dontasciime
depends, you have made a few coasters and said you were onto your last disc and if you were trying to fit too much onto disc and accepted the warning and it was far too much for the media, your disc would be wasted, This would still apply if you created ISO first though and then went to burn it and accepted warning but at least you could see Size in a more calm manner, slow and steady instead of impulse. I like to create ISO first but then i keep the ISO a few weeks. Not much difference otherwise.
polopony
keeping the ISO is always a good idea ,should you need to do it again you just burn it, verify the disc against the ISO.I keep all mine for a couple of weeks like Donta and manually delete them when I dont need them anymore
corrie
Burn was a complete success so no coasters ( not sure where that term came from ) with my last disc ... I note verbatim +R has been recommended to me which i used, can this be said for verbatim +RW as well ?? Thanks for the advise it has been very helpful

corrie
Thanks for that bit of info Is there such a thing as ( Verbatim +RW, 8.56GB (240mins) DL ?? ) for my LiteOn SOHW-1653S drive ... I have spent quite a few hrs googling this without any luck ... I live in the UK so if you have any ideas ( such as a link to buy them ) that would be very useful to me. If you know of any other make DL RW which can stand up to Verbatim I will also be interested. Ps Off out now, so I will see any repled post later toinght. dontasciime
Do not think these are available yet, Dual layer re-writables been waiting on some myself.
volvofl10
svp.co.uk for all your UK media afaik , you cant get 8gb RW discs, only 4.35 single layer RW = ReWritable if your meaning dual layer 8.5gb discs, then goto svp.co.uk as mentioned dual layer is either -R or +R with +R being the most popular, again only use Verbatim for dual layer work
