HI Im hoping someone can be kind enough to work me through this error im getting.

I currently have Windows XP Home, DVD Shrink, Img Burn and Nero 6 is also on my pc.

Im trying to burn a dvd that is not a movie. SO theres no protection issues. A friend of mine and I trade a few games every week and I can burn about half of them, the other half when I place it in the DVD drive it says theres nothing there.

I can view it on my dvd player connected to the TV but the dvd burner thinks its blank.

How can I start trouble shooting this? Can IMG burn get around this?

thanks

I guess I should be clear.

When I use dvd shrink to try to rip it it says no disc.

But when I pull up img burn , img burn recognizes that something is on the disc.

I guess im not sure what I can do because without shrink i cant create the file for img burn to burn however img burn does recognize theres something on the disc.

i hope that makes sense

Open ImgBurn, go to the Mode menu and click Read. If you have more than one burner/reader, make sure the right one is selected as the Source. In the Destination field, click the folder icon to select where the ISO image should be saved. After everything is ready, click the big Read button and wait :)

Hello:

I tried your instructions and img burn said that it was reading sectors for about 10 minutes however the completion bar stayed at 0%. Like it wasnt really doing anything.

One thing I did try was i tried to burn it with dvdfab and it said "this is a data disc'

why would it say its a data disc but my dvd player plays it like a dvd?

Im stumped.

thanks

Please post the log from when you've tried to read the disc with ImgBurn (you can find it at Help/ImgBurn logs).

Here is the log you requested.

Maybe it didnt give it enough time to work, but it sure didnt seem like it was doing anything compared to other dvd's ive burned.

thanks for your assistance.

how in the heck can a dvd standalone player play a game disk???

you are not making much sense

game disks are data disks not video disks

getting the basics down would help

Posted (edited)

its not a video game.

its a recorded dvd of a football game. forexample. colts vs saints football game on tv.

it doesnt think theres anything on it. I dont have another computer here, but I will take it to the computer store tomorrow, the guy up there said he will try to read it because i almost bought another burner today thinking its the reader.

I tried all different sofware

dvd shrink says no disc

dvd fab says data disc

roxio dvd copy says that it has 0KB of data on it.

But i put it in the player and it plays on tv.

this is a just a guess, but is the dvd player that can play it back also a stand-alone dvd recorder? if so you need to make sure that you finalize the disc or else you may have problems trying to read it in other devices.

The player that is reading it is not a recorder, its just a dvd player only. My recorder is hooked up to another tv in a different room

I am not the creator of the dvd. So I guess if I can play someone elses home made dvd then i can assume they finalized it.
