Cynthia Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Might be worth your time to visit CDFreaks.com and see if Liggy and Dee would be able to work up a bitsetting firmware for your drive...I think that would do the trick TBH. I 13:45:53 Source Media Type: DVD+R (Book Type: DVD-ROM) (Disc ID: TDK-003-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x) Isn't bitsetting already applied in that burn? @Cynthia Do you use the NEC tab to set the booktype with your Optiarc drive and do the new drives require modified firmware like the good old NEC models? No, I use original firmware for my Nec's. So that tab is still collecting dust here. Yes, you need modified firmware for +R SL discs to do the bitsetting.

hibbysam Posted February 26, 2008 Author Posted February 26, 2008 She's positively mesmeric, LOCO. I've posted on CDFreaks as you suggested. Fingers crossed. The most annoying thing about this is if i'd just bought some cheapo no-brand wouldn't have this problem.........

hibbysam Posted February 26, 2008 Author Posted February 26, 2008 Bumholes! Sorry, but the 7530 drives are not based on a NEC / Optiarc design. It's probably a rebadged QSI drive instead. So there will probably not be any firmware patches from us. Liggy Stupid Philips..................
dontasciime Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 You need to be contacting the manufacturer of your laptop or hardware to see what gives with regards to firmware etc or try in another home DVD player if you have not done that already.
LOCOENG Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I 13:45:53 Source Media Type: DVD+R (Book Type: DVD-ROM) (Disc ID: TDK-003-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x) My main reason for suggesting the firmware update was to get some bitsetting ability, which I seem to have overlooked, it already has... if this is an old firmware an update may help with compatability, but the discs play just fine in other standalone's, just not this particular drive.
