(1) No other burning software is installed on the machine. (2) All of the startup items are disabled by default except for the firewall and the UPS (3) Running memtest for 48 hours found nothing (4) Using a clean formatted copy of WinXP Pro yields same thing. (5) No problems with single layer just DL. (6) Is my burner going? (7) Is this esentially a coaster or will it play (Asking cause I don't have a DL player here at the moment)? Posted March 27, 2008 Share Posted March 27, 2008 Verify the disc again manually in Verify mode and see if it still errors out in the same places and with the exact same miscompare byte data. DougB Posted March 29, 2008 Author Share Posted March 29, 2008 Fortanently, the old ancient stand alone DOES indeed play DL's . I had three discs, two with miscompares and the other without one. They all played fine. What causes a miscompare, or more importantly what is the reason for them? Thank you for all you're help LUK. That *might* not prevent a video disc from playing but you sure as hell don't want one on a data disc as it basically means the disc is corrupt.
