Still same error

One question how do I update the firware of my cdrw burner?

I tried looking for an update on google ,and I am totally lost, sorry I am a real beginner here.

I can burn normal cdr , but not any cdrw's, and it's not the disc cause my friend can erase and put files on the same disc with no problem.

Please help,I have no audio on my computer ( dont know why) and I am a big anime fan, so the only hope I have left is to burn anime on cdrw's and watch them on my actual dvd home player.

Thank's in advance

Just because the disc works in his drive doesn't mean it'll work in yours.

Every drive and every firmware version on that drive is different.

To search for firmware you can normally use the option under 'Tools -> Drive' but rpc1.org is down at the moment.

Second to that is to google the model of the drive and the word 'firmware', so for you it would be 'SOHC-5236V firmware'.

This is the top result: http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware/S...px?DriveId=1163

From there you can get the vR$0G firmware and install it.

------------------------

I remember it used to work fine,(same brand of cd's) with my normal xp drag and drop copy files to cd process, but than it slowly began to not respond, maybe it's just my cd burner hardware problem.

One question, is it possible for a cd burner to have a hardware problem where it can burn normal cdr,but not cdrw's?I would think that if there was a problem with the cd burner it wouldnt burn any kind of discs at all.

Rewritables are never as good as write once media.

As you've only got a CD burner anyway, maybe now is a good time to get a new DVD burner (even if it's an external one).

You could also try running a cleaning disc on the drive.

I never heard of cleaning disc I am going to search for them on google, and see what I can find out.

And about buying new things, sorry I am really poor at this time.

IS there any homemade solution, what? is a cleaning disc some kinda regular cd,with attached spunge or cotton ro clean the lens? I am pretty sure I can make one :)

I bought one once and it certainly looked as a home made one. A little piece of clothing on the surface and some pure alcohol shipped with this disc. There was also a little program shipped that 'played' the disc during this cleaning. Another option is to take it apart and clean the laser head that way.
