spoonlegger Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I am a newbie to this program, but I have been using it for a few months now. It used to work just fine, but something is messing up now. The last 2 discs I have burned end in an error. The discs will play, but it messes up and will not skip scenes. Help! I love this program. I use it along with DVD decrypter, Menushrink, and DVD Shrink 3.2... I am just using it to backup home dvds I own. (I am a school teacher, so I like to carry copies of DVDs to school to show that way if they are stolen or messed up I don't have to buy a new one). I also just like to backup my own DVDs, just in case. Here is the log of the last 2 that messed up. I 20:03:46 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! I 20:03:46 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6000) I 20:03:46 Total Physical Memory: 2,086,720 KB - Available: 946,332 KB I 20:03:46 Initialising SPTI... I 20:03:46 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 20:03:46 Found 1 DVD
Cynthia Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Hi and welcome to the forum, spoonlegger! Looks as your burner and the media don't really like each other. If your computer is a Sony Vaio laptop, there is a later firmware for that burner, that might make them like each other. http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/u...N-CR&m=2851 If you update the firmware: No disc in the writer Tray closed All other programs closed
spoonlegger Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 My computer is a Sony Vaio Laptop! I am downloading the firmware now and intstalling it.
Cynthia Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 My computer is a Sony Vaio Laptop! Nice! Then my new crystal ball is working.
spoonlegger Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 I just updated the firmware and I am trying to burn a dvd again. I will let you know if we have great success or failure again!
spoonlegger Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 Oh boy, same thing again... Here is the log... and I'll attach a screen capture of the error message... I 22:47:15 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! I 22:47:15 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6000) I 22:47:15 Total Physical Memory: 2,086,720 KB - Available: 720,720 KB I 22:47:15 Initialising SPTI... I 22:47:15 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 22:47:37 Found 1 DVD
spoonlegger Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 Yes by the way, I did restart the computer.
Cynthia Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Could try to burn at 4x to see if that works better or get a brand of discs that the writer likes better.
spoonlegger Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 I have a feeling it may be the discs. I will try the 4x and see if that helps... Thank you so much for your help so far!!!!!
Cynthia Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I'm using the same media code as you do without problems here, but with another writer model. I 05:21:15 Destination Device: [2:1:0] ATAPI DVD A DH20A3H YV66 (E:) (ATA)I 05:21:15 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-R03-04) (Speeds: 4x; 6x; 8x; 12x; 16x)
dontasciime Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Change your media to some Verbatim MCC 02RG20 or some Taiyo Yuden TYG02 or try cleaning the lens with one of those cd cleaner disc's with 2 brushes (wet N dry)
spoonlegger Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 I bought some Sony DVDs on the way home and it worked on the first try!
blutach Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Pray they don't have rootkits hidden somewhere on the blanks :D Regards
