Power Calibration Area Error - LiteOn SHW-160P6S

I have had LiteOn SHW-160P6S for a couple years and only burn Verbatim DL. Never had a problem until recently. Single layer DVDs still burn great, but DLs are burning coasters (I've killed 13 discs so far, trying different options). I updated the firmware - no change. I have used Verbatim DLs from two different packs. Both packs burn DL OK on my laptop (Sony with Panasonic burner), but not on the PC. Tried at 4x and 2.4x. Tried leaving +R DL booktype as +R DL or as DVD-ROM - no effect. I am backing up movies for the kids to use on their DVD player. Rip to video_ts folder with RipIt4Me, build ISO with ImgBurn and burn with ImgBurn at 2.4x

Am I doing something wrong, or could my burner be failing?

Thanks

Have you been unlucky and got a pack made in India or something?

Other than that, yes there's always a chance your drive is failing. You could try running a cleaning disc through it but those things can almost be as expensive as buying a new drive!
