kris Posted July 30, 2008 Share Posted July 30, 2008 Hi all, When trying to burn an iso, imgburn is locking up on me at the end. The burn appears to be successful, but imgburn won't quit and freezes, holding a bunch of memory hostage. I have to kill it using task manager to get the GUI to disappear, but it still shows up on the task list. I didn't have this problem until I upgraded to the latest version of imgburn, though. Specs: HP Pavilion zd7040us HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N 1.15 (ATA) Windows XP Home (5.1, Build 2600 : SP2) Imgburn version 2.4.2.0 (updated today from 2.4.1.0) Memorex DVD+R After the burn is apparently complete, the log states the following: (manually entered from a different computer) ... Write Mode: DVD Write Type: Incremental Write Speed: MAX DVD +R Reserve Track: No Link Size: Auto Test Mode: No OPC: No BURN-Proof: Enabled Book Type Setting: DVD-ROM Filling Buffer ... (20 MB) Writing LeadIn... Writing Session 1 of 1 ... (1 Track, LBA: 0 - 564799) Writing Track 1 of 1 ... (MODE1/2048, LBA: 0 - 564799) Synchronizing Cache... Closing Track... Finalising Track... Image MD5: blahblahblah Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration 00:09:45 Average Write Rate: 2,131 KB/s (1.5x) - Maximum Write Rate: 2,962 KB/s (2.1x) At this point, ImgBurn locks up. It says at the bottom of the GUI: Getting Disc Control Blocks Information... Clicking File -> Exit results in the following log: Close Request Acknowledged Closing Down... The GUI says this at the bottom: Terminating Interface Thread... And now it's locked up. After ejecting the disk, it closes. mmalves Posted July 30, 2008 Share Posted July 30, 2008 ImgBurn seems to be waiting for an answer from your drive and Windows I/O remains stuck while that doesn't happen (that's how it works unfortunately) Return ImgBurn to its default settings (Tools -> Settings -> click Restore Defaults button and answer Yes) and try again. What's the Media ID of those Memorex discs? Even though you're using the same brand, the dye they've used to manufacture the disc could be different. Try with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blanks (the ones rated 8x preferably), as these are known to have consistently high quality dyes. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
