mmalves Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Are your Verbatim blanks made in Singapore or India? The ones made in India have lower success rate due to lower quality dye. Try burning one at 4x to see if it works, or you'll need a new burner.
SmotPoker Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 They are made in Singapore. Is it possible that the DVD+R DL itself was defective because I tried to burn it again using a second DVD+R DL and it was successful. Or is my burner on it's way out, and I will continue to receive random performance? Here is the log for the successful burn: ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Sunday, 12 October 2008, 21:09:07 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 20:25:59 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! mmalves Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 It is possible that it was a bad disc, but if you happen to start getting bad burns more often than usual then you know the burner might be wearing out.
Wicked1981 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Good afternoon. I just downloaded ImgBurn yesterday and made a copy of one of my XBOX games without a problem. Today I tried to make another copy using all the same settings and I keep getting a Power Calibration Error. The discs I am using are not Verbatim b/c I didn't read much about copying my games prior to buying my discs. They are Nexxtech DVD+R DL. I figured since it worked last night it wouldn't matter but I have tried with 2 different discs and I keep getting the same error. Here are the logs. Thanks. mmalves Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 That's the problem with non-Verbatim dual-layer media: their quality is anyone's guess, and the one that burned may have been just out of luck
Wicked1981 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 So that's the answer? One disc works perfectly fine and the other doesn't so it has to be the disc?
mmalves Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 A firmware update could help but I didn't find any for your burner. A new burner also isn't a sure shot to burn crap media, so what's the easiest solution? Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) Made in Singapore blanks. As for 'works perfectly', try a quality scan on that disc using DVDInfoPro or DiscSpeed and you might change your mind about that
Wicked1981 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 By works perfectly I mean I can play it and there are no glitches. Thanks.
Wicked1981 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Looks like it was the type of media I was using. I bought some Verbatim discs on my way home and it is burning now without any issue. Thanks.
